Senior Director, Payroll & HR Shared Services 2012 – present
Responsible for the Payroll and Human Resources shared service operations in support of 200+ hospitals, and 140,000 employees across the United States. Duties include payroll processing and tax, HR transaction processing (new hire and onboarding, transfers, job changes, leaves admin, terminations), customer call center operations, annual program budgets and monthly forecasts, and HR reporting.
The Employee Service Center (ESC) is part of a multi-system, cross-functional implementation effort which was completed 2Q2016. The HRIS, Payroll, and Onboarding modules are Ultipro (Ultimate Software Group), and Kronos serves as the timekeeping platform for payroll processing.
Director, Global Shared Services - Human Resources 2010 - 2011
Corporate-wide responsibility for the Shared Services operations in support of Human Resources. Duties include payroll processing and tax, new hire processing (offer letters, new hire set-up, I-9 verification, and new hire orientation), exit interviews and terminations, ex-pat support, HRIS, HR budgeting, monthly forecasts, HR program reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
Shared Services operations are located in the US, the United Kingdom, and India, and utilize PeopleSoft HRIS and Payroll (v9.1) platforms.
HYATT HOTELS CORPORATION
Director - Financial Shared Services, North America 2008 - 2010
Oklahoma City, OK
Responsible for the Financial Shared Service operations supporting approximately 120 hotels across North America. Duties include global process ownership for accounting-to-reporting, procurement-to-payables, credit extension and collections, call center operations, banking/treasury, tax filing and support (sales and use, property, and occupancy taxes), human resources, IT, payroll and timekeeping, and the FSSC budget, forecasts, and financial reporting.
The FSSC team includes associates located in Oklahoma, as well as outsourced services provided through a Business Process Outsource (BPO) organization located in India. There were 14 direct-reports in this role, with many of these managers serving in global process or function-specific leadership roles. The total number of associates engaged in the FSSC operation numbers in excess of 400.
Director of Finance - National Payroll Services 2005 - 2008
Responsible for the financial support of the National Payroll Services operations. Duties included general accounting, month-end close activities, funds operations and banking, tax filing and payments, financial analysis of the NPS operations and performance metrics, monthly forecasts and annual budget planning, and the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley standards across payroll operations.
The NPS operation has processing locations in California, and Oregon, and conducts weekly payroll processing utilizing PeopleSoft Payroll.
Controller/CFO - Benefit Services 2002 - 2005
Responsible for all financial support with the COBRA/FSA Services business unit. Duties include accounting, financial reporting and analysis, billing, collections, monthly forecasts, annual planning and capital budgets, and funds operations.
Direct-reports ranged from 7 to 8 managers in this role, and included 3 funds managers, and individual managers covering general accounting, financial reporting, facilities, and regulatory compliance and certification programs.
Successfully completed COBRA and FSA historical reconciliation and recovery projects for the period of 1999 through 2002. All client accounts were brought current, and/or closed-out for previously terminated accounts.
Successfully integrated ProBusiness (acquired company) COBRA and FSA client accounts onto our internal processing platforms.
Established escheatment processing for the business unit, and extended this service coverage across the Benefit Services Division.
Implemented Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and SAS70 certification programs within the unit.
Operations Manager - US Incentive Compensation 2000 - 2001
Responsible for operations management of incentive pay plans and payroll processing in support of all incentive-based employees and managers across the United States. Total number of pay plans supported was greater than 500.
Sourced and trained new team of incentive compensation specialists and business process analysts.
Created “customer care” model for incentive compensation team, and later adopted by the corporate compensation organization.
Member of corporate finance job scoping taskforce. Reviewed market-based salary surveys and job comparisons, developed new finance job family, and implemented within US Finance.
Global Controller - Americas Organization 1994 - 1999
Responsible for $20B Americas’ financial shared services operations supporting business units across Canada, Latin America, and the US. Operations included high-transaction volume processing support for accounts payable, employee travel programs and reimbursement, accounts receivable, general ledger, assets, payroll, financial reporting and analysis, parts inventory, and procurement. Additional responsibilities included business unit and infrastructure financial support, internal audit, and tax services.
Utilized TQC (Total Quality Control) based strategic and tactical planning process to create the vision, mission, and value proposition for the organization.
Developed process improvement programs which reduced operational headcount by 36%, cut transaction processing costs by 35%, and saved the company $5.5M over a four year period.
Implemented new SAP accounting architecture, and converged accounting support for Canada and Latin America into the Atlanta-based operations.
Implemented electronic submission and approval process for employee expense reimbursements, and revised the process for auditing travel expense reports which saved $500K per year.
