Senior SharePoint Architect / Applications Manager

Audubon Engineering

August 2011 – April 2014

Houston, TX

I was brought on-board at Audubon to create an Intranet from scratch and to Architect that farm, code the pages, build the graphics, handle UX and UI requirements and standards. Only the content came from users and internal clients. Within a 60 day period, I successfully got buy-in from all shareholders, was the Architect and builder of the SharePoint 2010 Farm, Set up the Servers, and built multiple portals for Management to choose from, and then deployed the one they decided upon after revising and adding to certain area. The Intranet went live October 1, 2001 and was a huge success. End-user use was almost immediately 100% and feedback was very good from all stakeholders. Within the next few months, I grew the Intranet by setting up Records Center, FAST Search, Taxonomy, Integrating SSRS, and building multiple Site and Internal Department Sites. I trained at least 2 people in each department on how to administer their site and what the guidelines of use were and the standards to follow.

Within 8 months of going live, we started using built in OOB features like workflows to create simple apps for departments. After succeeding here, the company decided we would build internal application suites for HR, HSE, IT Procurement, Process Automation of Statement of Work for Project Management, and many more.

We vetted all vendors and settled on K2. My team and I were trained and certified in K2. Within the next year, we built all of the above applications, saving the company literally, millions of dollars and making processes work smoother and with more accuracy throughout the company. All apps were device agnostic (work on all devices - phones, tablets, notebooks, desktops) standard fashion and UX.

I was also tasked with managing the Company ERP System and Team (located in New Orleans, LA) and the SQL DB System and Team. I mentored my teams and employees (from 8-12 at any given time) as we upgraded the ERP System to Microsoft Dynamics during this tenure.

Escalation and Project Technical Support

Serenity Systems

February 2011 – August 2011

Houston, TX

We offered managed IT Services for companies and small businesses. As an Escalation and Project Engineer, I worked on high level issues and project. I worked daily with servers, routers, network switches, server backup systems, and VoIP telephone systems. I successfully completed a complete server upgrade for a prestigious downtown law firm. We upgraded Network, Physical Servers and virtualized some of the servers (utilizing VM Ware). Serenity entered into talks to sells/merge and is no longer in business.

IT Manager

Stronghold Limited

January 2010 – December 2010 (1 year)

As the IT Manager for this growing refining and petrochemicals support firm, I successfully met many challenges of a growing, geographically diverse (New Jersey, Louisiana, Oklahoma, California, Wisconsin, 2 location in Corpus Christi, and 2 sites with multiple building in Houston/La Porte) company. I successfully managed vendors and employees to keep all offices VPNed to our main office. As a hands on professional, I administered all of the company’s servers – some Virtual Machines, some Physical Servers (MS Exchange, MS AD, MS Forefront, MS SharePoint, Data Backup and Recovery, and VoIP). As with any manager, I was responsible for personnel decisions and mentoring of the team as well as interfacing with Executives on upcoming projects, budget, and other issues as needed.

I also helped the company standardize on a software and hardware for office and field workers and then worked with procurement to find vendor that could supply just-in-time at the right price. Supporting a standard saved us time and considerable money.

Major projects completed during my tenure:

• Complete reworking of emergency power back up and installation of correct and functional emergency power, along with protection of all server assets at all locations

• Ground up IT installation of new Company Facilities– Requirements, purchasing of hardware/software, managing installation and contractors involved. In one instance, a 60 Day Turnaround from first meeting to fully functional IT Facility with the special consideration of a CNC Burn Table.

• Implementation of SharePoint Server 2010 and services

• Conversion from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010

• Implementation of Microsoft Office Communicator 2007r2 and Microsoft Live Meeting across the organization

• Standardization of all VoIP PBXs across locations and servers (8 Locations 5 States)

• Implementation of data disaster and back up strategy and emergency fail-over

• Great customer service to all end users.

Business Process Analyst, IT Project Manager, Intranet Designer

Boeing

June 2002 – April 2009

Houston, TX – St. Louis, MO - Virtual

As one of a few Flash SMEs in 2002, I was brought on board to manage the redesign of Boeing’s Intranet. The intent was to standardize, optimize download/view times, and give each work group a voice and presence on the intranet that would allow each team to manage its own content and message. The internal Communications Group had settled on Flash as the platform before bringing me on board. Wireframes were available and had been converted to Flash by an external company. I took those average 500kb flash files and optimized them to 60K on average with multimedia. I then developed (utilizing html, graphics, slideshows, and ColdFusion) multiple templates and for high level internal companies and groups and taught each group how update content while following company standards. A main point at that time was bringing XML into Flash (very new in 2002) that could be formatted and created/edited by any Administrator of a site in Microsoft Word. After completing the Intranet redesign, I was tasked with Redesigning the Internet Site (www.boeing.com) which was a huge win.

I transitioned from the Web Design Group and moved into Financial Application IT Group. This was my first exposure to .Net and SharePoint (which had just come out). My first application was a Change Management Tool that utilized Flash, .net (.asp pages) and XML to build workflow diagrams (much like Visio) that were animated and could be tailored for each team using the tool. After the success of this within the company, I took on many more application roles within Finance Business IT.

Here is a list of the big deals:

Maintained/Administrated multiple SharePoint Sites (including creation of custom webparts)

Facilitated LEAN+ Sessions and modeled processes for International Space Station LEEP – 5 Processes; Engineering IT VSM; Human Resources Engineering Intern Process VSM; Exit Process VSM; Proposal Rapid Response VSM; Baseline Management and Control Change Management VSM

IT Project Manager utilizing Macroscope Methodology for multiple applications including Conversion of shop floor timecard application over a Labor Day weekend in 2007.

Administered Microsoft Project Server for scheduling by Virtual Teams. Mentored and trained teams to utilize Microsoft Project Server.

Performed SoX controls

Modeled Processes for many internal groups utilizing Visio
