Experience Cont.

2/94 – 2/99 Self- Employed

Consultant – Chattanooga, Nashville, Atlanta, Oak Ridge, TN & GA As a consultant provided support for clients in various capacities. Worked independently providing HVAC system design and developing design criteria as well as serving within the client organizations as the project engineer and lead mechanical engineer for large capital and sensitive regulatory projects The projects have ranged from developing design criteria and detailed design for the retrofit of process cooling & dehumidification system for a 60,000 square ft. industrial facility to serving as a project and lead mechanical engineer for several projects with a Fortune 200 Chemical Company’s capital program. Responsibilities included providing the chemical company’s mechanical design and project administration for HVAC and Fire Protection. This project also required unique design considerations for humidity, temperature, pressure, air motion, air quality, noise, vibration and sound attenuation and corrosion control in a chlorine and SO2 environment. Also the detailed design of Class 10/100 clean rooms for instrumentation and electrical areas was provided. 2/90 – 2/94 Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation Chattanooga, Tennessee

Served as lead on various projects including developing conceptual designs, detailed design analysis, performing calculations, making equipment selection and writing equipment specifications, scheduling engineering and project efforts, preparing and verifying cost estimates, interacting with client personnel and principals, as well as coordinating the efforts of other disciplines involved on the all projects.

Two of the most notable were:

Provided engineering consultation to an Army Ammunition Plant in their efforts to comply with the OSHA requirement restricting nitroglycerin concentration in occupied spaces to 1 part per million. Served as the lead mechanical engineer on the team assembled to resolve the problem. The criteria for this project was unique in that this was the first United States Government facility attempting to comply with this new regulation.

Selected as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for a Global 500 corporation from the Netherlands for their $57 million expansion of an industrial polyester fibers plant. The HVAC system was required not only to heat, cool, humidify, and ventilate process spaces, but also to regulate the temperature and humidity for all process control. The design required a new 1300-ton chiller plant with the capability for 300-ton expansion. This project was designed to the client’s European standards and required coordination within the United States and with their corporate design staff in the Netherlands.
