A Trade Finance Manager with an experience in Trading/Sales, Operations and Banking in the three main categories of commodities (Energy, Metals and Softs), my main concern is to monitor risk, reduce financing costs and to make deals possible. From Lausanne to Zug, via London and Luzern, I have always adapted easily to new working cultures, and I acquired a solid experience in this ever changing business. Experience

Trade Finance Manager 2014 – 2015

CDI Cotton Distributors Inc., Lausanne, Switzerland

To secure the hedging of our physical cotton contracts, I set up a Tri-Partite Agreement with our main bank and our broker. This gave us more flexibility and we increased safely the business volumes by about 25%.

For a cotton producer in Zimbabwe, I set up a six months pre-financing facility of USD 5.5 million with a first class African bank. 50% of the total 6000mt was prepaid, with the rest paid against a warehouse receipt in South Africa.

I created a worksheet to calculate our banking charges on export L/Cs per bank and per country. I could reduce our banking costs by about 15%.

I managed to set up a confirming line with a first class German bank to confirm export L/Cs issued in Venezuela allowing exports of cotton from Brazil and Argentina.

Sales Manager / Head of Aluminium Sales Administration 2011 – 2014 ASMP GmbH, Zug, Switzerland

I increased by about 30% our sales of Aluminium Alloys semi-finished products in four of our traditional European markets. To do that, I paid regular visits to our customers and prospects, and organized visits to our plant in Russia.

Since our volumes were limited, I created a “reservation system” where our 50 main customers were committing themselves to buy monthly quantities. As a result, irrespective of the market conditions, we were able to sell 90% - 100% of our production and keep our main customers satisfied.

I set up a bonded warehouse in the Netherlands to store Aluminium Plates so we could deliver in a few days our industrial customers instead of the usual two weeks.

Freight Negotiator and Shipping Supervisor 2010 – 2011 Trafigura Beheer BV, Luzern, Switzerland

Starting from scratch (it was a brand new position within the company), I managed to reduce the company’s freight costs by 15%. I negotiate multi-modal freight rates with freight forwarders and shipping lines, and found solutions and partners for transport and warehousing, both in Europe and for the transcontinental delivery of refined metals. Junior Trader & Head of Operations – Refined Metals Division 2007 – 2009 Atriumetals SA, Lausanne, Switzerland

2008 – 2009 Junior Trader: I assisted our traders to purchase and sale an annual volume of 60’000mt of refined metals. I was in charge of our Aluminium and Zinc physical and hedging positions. Due to the financial crisis in 2008, it became very challenging since the company suffered from the financial turmoil.

2007 Head of Operations: I reorganized the department, from the handling of the files, the communication with the banks, customers and freight partners, to the software system and the archiving method. It reduced our costs, allowed to hire two new operators, as well as to increase substantially the trading volumes. Traffic Coordinator – Refined Metals Division 2003 – 2007 Gerald Metals SA, Morges, Switzerland

I was in charge of the export of Aluminium, Zinc and Lead mainly for South-East Asia. I was monitoring our stocks of Aluminium in our warehouses in Rotterdam, Dubai and Taiwan. I dealt on daily basis with buyers, shipping partners, and agents. I monitored L/Cs and the presentation of the shipping documents to our banks.

In 2006, at the headquarters in the USA, I was trained for two months on the handling of Silver contracts and took the responsibility of all Silver shipments for the company. Jorge Pereira

Trade Finance Assistant – Credit Control Department 1993 – 2000 Banque Cantonale Vaudoise BCV, Lausanne, Switzerland

During 3 years, I was in charge the Trade-Finance customers’ positions, and opening bank accounts for the offshore trading companies. I was also chosen to participate actively in the implementation of a new software system (IMEX) for the bank and in charge of the training of my colleagues.
