Design, document, test and supervise manufacture and integration of spacecraft solar array for Mars Observer Program (NASA/JPL) as the Lead Solar Array Design Engineer. Managed and directed 2 support engineers and 3 design specialists to insure spacecraft program schedules. Action resulted in on-time $5 million milestone payment.

Provide first and only magnetic field strength analysis on solar array at GE Astro-Space per customer requirements.

Design and supervise fabrication of 225 conductor wiring harness for spacecraft solar array power, dual-axis gimbal drive assembly, attitude control sensors and telemetry. Identified indeterminate design problem, developed a prototype "mock-up" of actual assembly to assure accurate production of part. Directed manufacturing personnel while documenting production methods for designer to produce drawings and procedures. Allowed manufacturing to continue on schedule and to deliver harness assembly to customer on time and 22% under budget.

Principal Investigator on R&D projects: Evaluated Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) and thin-film photovoltaic devices, solar cell interconnection materials and non-ozone depleting chemistries (ODC) for solar cell cleaning.
