Project Summary:Phototoxic potential of the test Drugs SPARFLOXACIN in swiss albino mice.

Photobiology Principle:photobiology is the study of the effect of optical radition (UVA and UVB)in living system.

Experimental Design:swiss mice were detained from experimental animal faculty .in the weight range og 25-30 gm and 4-5 weeks old at receipt. At the beginning of the body weight was taken .

Duration:Animal were kept for two weeks acclimation period so that they are approximetly 40 days old.the animal were observed for 5 days after an hour and 24 hour past irradiation period.

Experimental procedure:total of 4 days

20 swiss female mice were divided into four groups of mice and they were kept in polypropylene cages with paddy husk and bedding.

Animal in each cages were identified by furmarking and then weight.

After 24 hr of dosing the animal hair were clipped with the help of electric cliper and hair removing cream.

UV-A irradiation:

The animal will be irradiated for 3 hours starting 1 hour after each daily drugs dose.

Observation:the mice to be observed an hour and 24 hour lost irradiation to note changes.skin and ears will be assessed for severity of erythema and edema scoring will be the follwing scale by visual inspection.
