Duties: Assisted in supervision, coordination and evaluation of
Occupational Therapy I positions in the rehabilitation department.
Assisted in the development of policy and procedures for the department, as
well as program planning and direct implementation of services. Direct
treatment responsibilities including individual evaluation and group
treatment services to chronically mentally ill offenders that were court
ordered for long periods of time due to MGRI status by the court system.
Served as a member of four interdisciplinary teams. Provided staff training
to non-professional nursing personnel on group dynamics and the techniques
of "therapeutic use of self".
02/1999-12/2001 District Mental Health Court Monitor, United Behavioral
Health, Seattle, WA
Duties: Provision of initial engagement and evaluation services to inmates
of King County jail that were referred to a specialized misdemeanor
criminal court pilot program. Responsible for referral and linkage to
community outpatient mental health agencies and initial written evaluations
to the judge regarding safety concerns and release from custody issues.
Court monitoring treatment plans of released individuals until
adjudication. Supervision of three clinicians, assistance to the court
(community safety concerns) regarding release from jail pre adjudication.
Daily presence in the courtroom in order to provide consultation and
education to court personnel i.e. (the Judge, Prosecutor, and 2 Defense
lawyers) in regards to mental health issues. Oversee contract compliance
monitoring of 17 mental health agencies that provided services to the
court: written quarterly reports to the county regarding compliance of said
agencies, as well as quarterly compellation of statistics information.
Coordination and facilitation of system case reviews of difficult clients.
Acted as the system integration liaison to the chemical dependency
division, the developmental delayed division, the criminal justice system,
and various other community organizations such as local shelters, domestic
violence centers, and the department of social services to plan, develop,
and coordinate policies and procedures. Active involvement in the public
relations aspect of the court: giving presentations, interviews, and
attending national, state and local conferences to promote and develop
system integration policies and obtain additional funding sources for the
program.

Duties: Provide evaluation and treatment to individuals with acute and
chronic mental illness in an outpatient setting. Services included
advocacy in legal system linkage with community resources, multiple
functional assessments and treatment planning, crisis intervention and
living skills training. Hiring and supervision of 4 case aides.
04/1997-2/1999 Research Interviewer: University of California- Riverside,
CA
Duties: Interview minority homeless women ages 19 to 34 in targeted inner-
city areas of Seattle For Centers for Disease Control (National Center for
HIV/STD/TB Prevention). The study concerns HIV related risks associated
with sexual behavior and substance abuse by women who stated their
profession as prostitutes. Data collected was utilized to develop targeted
HIV prevention and intervention strategies for minority homeless women in
inner city environments.
04/1997-04/2000 Occupational Therapist: Casey Foundation Seattle,
Facilitation of Casey Children Provision of services for pre-adolescents
and adolescents (6-13 years of age) that are in long term foster care and
were diagnosed with attachment disorders. Art Expression groups were
utilized to promote peer interactions, positive role modeling: in addition
to introduction of positive skill building i.e. creativity, cognitive
process: i.e. problem solving, listening skills, social interactions that
build healthy relationships and increase abilities to express needs and
wants in non-verbal ways.
