ADT stands for Adult Daily Trainer, and as an ADT Specialist I would sometimes stay with, and teach every day tasks that you or I would take for advantage to individuals with special needs and certain disabilities. I would take vitals, and check blood sugars, administer meds. If or as they were needed, I would do bathroom breaks, changes for those who needed to be changed, take these Individuals to appointments if they had any that day and needed took, I would also take these Individuals out shopping or on a planned trip just for recreational reasons with other individuals from the company of their liking or choosing, I would also help these Individuals with their bathing and feedings from cooking and cleaning up the mess, to even if they had a feeding tube and needed their meds and meal administered through their feeding tube. A lot of them had feeding tubes and most of them were on special puree diets that had to be prescribed to them and prepared perfectly for them. The ADT Center was where we went in at 8 a.m and went home 4:30 p.m. each ADT Personnel at the end of each shift was required to chart everything that happened before, during, and ending of that day with that individual or Individuals and how many individuals you had that shift depends on their resolving customer issues.

I also came in at 7:00a.m, before we opened and cleaned the fryers, made the salads for that day, I also helped set up for the day with filling up the sandwich stations with their condiments, I set up the grills and the fryers after cleaning them, I also strated the fries and chicken nuggets, I then had to take out all of the trash and dump the old grease traps clean them and have those read, and then I had to have the parking lot clean,swept, and scrubbed before 10:00 a.m when we opened for business, and after all of this I ran a cash register for the rest of my shift which ended at 3:30p.m.

It all just depended on how hard the patient was to watch by yourself versus how easy it was to watch them with others, alone, or with help from other staff that shift. There also was required training for this job that I had to have. I had to be CPR certified for this job in geriatric and pediatric CPR, I also had to take all kinds of restraint classes and training, Ihad to watch so many hours of Med administration and how to chart these meds with correct terminology in their charts, I had to be trained in special diets and pure diets, I also had to take feeding tube training, I had to learn and train on hoyer lifts and wheelchairs as well. This was a very rewarding and exciting opportunity for me and if the pay would have been better I would have stayed right there no problem.
