Capstone:

GeoShade, a company interested in designing a solar sail, assigned our group the task of determining deployment procedures, actuators, and mathematical models for a sail. I created a simulation of the space vehicle using Simscape Multibody and Solidworks. The simulation showed how the vehicle would react to different force inputs in a zero-gravity environment.

Viking Robotics Society:

• Tasked to design spur gears for multiple linkages. Designed the gears using SolidWorks.

• Told to determine whether gears would mesh properly after being 3-D printed. Verified that the gears would mesh properly by simulating the motion of the gears using SolidWorks Motion Analysis.

• Assigned to determine the variables required to calculate the torque created by the linkages. Used SolidWork’s Evaluate function to determine the center of mass, weight, and moment arms of the linkages with respect to the axes of rotation.

• Tasked to automate the process of calculating linkage torques to accelerate the design process. Created a MATLAB Script that outputted the amount of torque experienced by each axis of rotation. Cook:
