● I covered for a MD for her two primary care offices.

● Worked in the same manner as the Medical Doctor who used to see her patients.

● Saw all ages for their primary care needs, annual physical exam, acute issues such as infections, chronic care management such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD. Treated small groups of patients for pain management and Suboxone program as well. January 2019 -

February 2019: Nurse Practitioner (Temporary Locum assignment) Pine Ridge, SD

Worked in outpatient clinic in Pine Ridge Hospital in Indian reservation in South Dakota. Saw patients for primary care and urgent care needs.

● It was a valuable experience to live and work in Lakota tribe nation which was the oldest Indian nation in the country and it was the poorest county in the country. It was a very remote environment as if I was in a different country inside the US, living in a live historical museum.

● Worked 12 hour shift for 5 days a week (60 hours/wk)

● Worked in outpatient clinic inside the hospital. Saw 10-15 patients a day. A typical day would look like this. 3 patients in their 40-50's come in the morning for their regular primary care check up and need medicine refills. I do assessment and diagnose and refill medicines. They will get their medicines in the in-house pharmacy in the hospital. 5 patients have acute pain issues such as back pain, shoulder pain, and etc. I assess them and either give them a week supply of pain medicine such as Tramadol or give an order to radiology to get x-rays. Also refer them to orthopedics in the community or consult with the in-house surgeon for simple surgery. Other 3 patients come for upper respiratory infection. Usually antibiotics are given. After 5pm, pediatric patients come to our clinic. Usually they have upper respiratory issues and antibiotics are given. But sometimes emergency needs arise such as a kid who has not had a bowel movement for days showing impacted bowels in x-rays or a patient who is having acute chest pain, I send them to the ER which was the next room in the same hospital building. ● This was the most rewarding experience as a nurse practitioner in my life. I opened up my own practice.

● I had my own office to see patients in office setting. And I also went out to 7 - 10 assisted living facilities to see patients there as well.

● Saw mostly adult patients for their primary care needs, annual physical exam, acute issues such as infections, chronic care management such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD. Treated small groups of patients for pain management as well.
