Safety, Health & Security Manager

Worked in the capacity of Director of Safety, Occupational Health and Security, for Mississippi Phosphates Corporation which at the time had a work force of over 300 employees and 80 on-site subcontractors.

I first was hired as a consultant to develop and establish a new safety program. In order to address the issues from a long term systemic problem resulting in part from not having a solid safety/security foundation. In a short period of time safety became progressively proactive rather than reactive, helping to mitigate potentially dangerous issues in a preventive manner.

I was charged with the task of salvaging useful JSA of existing procedures and put together a progressive, proactive program by utilizing newer, innovative safety methods such as behavioral methods which are found in the offshore industries. I developed a 14-point safety program that is still being used as well as a contractor orientation method with high standards of safety

I was able to bring down the recordable accident rate from a 19% to less than <1% over a 3 month period and resolved over $850,000 in back workman compensation claims.

Left for a personal emergency relocation back to near my family; that situation is resolved
