SLES9 – 10.3 Upgrade (in progress): Planned and implemented the conversion of legacy SLES9 instances to SLES10 in order to maintain vendor support.
Unix to OpenLDAP project: Served as project manager and wrote the custom schema that allowed AIX, Solaris, and Linux to use the same OpenLDAP directory for authentication and authorization.
Solaris Patching Automation: Wrote & deployed a custom solution to automate Solaris OS patching.
BVS Automation; Phase 1: Wrote a middleware API to interface the legacy ticketing system to the CMDB. The first application of this was to automate SOx user password compliance.
BVS Automation; Phase 2: Used the API to automate the synchronization between user termination tickets cut from the HR database with standard Unix authentication databases across Unix platforms.

Unix and Windows 2003 System Administrator in the Networking Systems Area. Primarily responsible for the Unix and W2K3 servers at the heart of the enterprise including, Email, Identity Management, File & Print Services, Content Management, and Ad Delivery.
Proof-of-Concept CMDB: Designed and wrote a multi-platform Hardware Configuration Management Database, including both Windows and Unix based client-side daemons capable of updating in real time.
Sun One to Microsoft Exchange Email Migration: Planned, Designed and rolled out Microsoft Exchange. Wrote the custom middleware to migrate users, their mailboxes and contacts to Active Directory/ Exchange. Wrote the business plan and the software tools to do an “In Place” or rolling migration in which the users experienced no interruption of service.
iPlanet to Sun One Java Messaging Server Migration: Full scale Email upgrade. Added secure email gateways, inbound and outbound Virus scanning and Spam mark up. Increased mail throughput 400% and storage 800% across a massively distributed email system.
IBM Tape Library Driver: Wrote a CLI interface for use between standard AIX backup software and an IBM Magnum 20 robotic tape library.
Aide Pilot Project: Integrated existing open source intrusion detection software with custom software into an intranet website showing enterprise wide security status at a glance.
Application Monitoring Software: Developed a “Plug in” type architecture for determining system status at an application level in near real time. The “mile high” perspective has enabled help desk personnel to diagnose and respond more quickly to wide scale problems.
Standard Linux Recovery Method ( SLuRM Project ): Developed a Single DVD system for bare-metal restores of x86 & Sparc computers. A more versatile open source version of Ghost without the high licensing cost.
Standard Linux High Availability Cluster ( SLHaC Project ): Designed and implemented a low cost replacement for expensive High Availability Computing Platforms using pairs of low cost PCs, open source software, and custom logic. This has enabled the roll-out of High Availability in nearly all business areas.
Ftp Electronic Ad Delivery System ( FEADS Project ): Created a zero-cost-of-administration ftp server for receiving ads in electronic form. Though this code is now 6 years old it is still responsible for 90% of Dispatch Ad Revenue and has enjoyed better than 99.99% up-time since its initial deployment.
Banyan Sharkmail/Unix Sendmail to iPlanet Messaging Server Email Migration: Developed the project plan and custom software to convert Banyan mailboxes to Unix Standard mailboxes. Won project-of-the-year award Dec. 2001.
