Projects:

(a)Arrow Maintenance & Production support

Arrow Legacy Mainframe system in z/OS operating system has various sub applications which includes Purchasing System, SDT (Sales Desktop system), BOM (Bill of Material), Programming VAS (Value Added System), Credit Card Order Processing, Web Order Services, GFS (Global Finance System) etc. The data to all these applications are fed from AEGIS Legacy Mainframe system.

Job Summary:

Production support and enhancements of Legacy Mainframe Applications used with in the Arrow system. Arrow Application platform has various interfaces from Mainframe AEGIS system to the Arrow Shop Floor System, DMS Value Added System, Warehouse Management System (WMS), EDI transmissions to vendor and the Financial System.

As part of Production Support activity, solve production/quality online & batch abends in given time frame. I.e. solve Hotline/Helpdesk cases based upon the priority of the ticket and maintain SLA. Hotline cases are mainly user reported CICS online problems or batch abends in the production environment which needs to be resolved efficiently.

Analyzing the business requirements and transforming the requirements to Functional design specifications.

Estimation of new projects or enhancements using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Function Point or Three Point Method based on the Size of the project.

Design, code, unit test, debug of the code and produced high quality deliverables with least number of defects.

As part of small projects, work on enhancements to online CICS programs, Credit Card Order transactions, COBOL batch programs and RMDS reports.

(b)Arrow Dispute Processing Systems (ADPS)

This project settles disputes on credit card transactions like lost/stolen cards, fraud transactions, multiple charges for single transaction, damaged cards, billing errors, incorrect charge backs etc. ADPS receives responses from First Data and validates data from DB2 tables and the sends the data back to First Data system. ADPS also generates the settlement reports/letters for the customers.

(c)MCRD (Merchant Credit Card Maintenance)

We used to fetch data from the DB2 tables based on merchant number which was a unique number given to all the credit cards (VISA, MC, AMEX, NOVS). But when Arrow starts accepting CAD cards, duplicate issue started arising as the merchant number was same for each card type which impacted Credit Card Processing. This project was to add 2 new fields (REAUTH & currency type (USD/CAD)) to MCRD database to resolve duplicate issue.

(d)Unity Conversion Project

Unity is a Migration Project from Mainframe to Oracle ERP platform. To position Arrow for the future, Executive Leadership decided to move to a single operating platform by migrating Legacy business to the Oracle platform. The benefits from this initiative include greater flexibility and speed-to-market, reduced administrative cost etc., In order to achieve the Single Operating Platform objective, all the data that is currently processed on mainframe needs to be extracted as per the ERP requirement and interfaced to ERP conversion team. Similarly create de-conversion tasks on mainframe to successfully close out all open sales orders and purchase orders after conversion. This was implemented (Go Live) on January 4, 2018.

Job Summary:

Developed effective AEGIS OS-390 technical and user documentation for Unity Team for the smooth migration.

Provided required data Extracts to Oracle Unity ERP team.

Development of both online and batch programs with database connectivity like CICS-DB2 and COBOL-DB2 for De-conversion Tasks after the migration on year-end.

(e)NuHo Conversion Project

Arrow Electronics has acquired Nu Horizons Electronics in 2011. NuHo system was running in AS/400 platform & Arrow Electronics in OS/390. NuHo is a Migration Project from AS/400 Mainframe to OS-390 Mainframe platform. To position Arrow for the future, Executive Leadership decided to move to a single operating platform by migrating AS/400 to Legacy business and then to the Oracle platform.

Role:

Coordinated with Business Analyst to define requirements, analyze business needs and validated solutions with client and prepared the estimation document for the requirement.

Prepared the Functional Spec (POS) & design document (PDD) for all the functional requirements.

Creating the Flowchart and coding of application programs using COBOL, DB2 & CICS.

Developed JCL’s, procedures for the batch system as per the client standards.

Execute the batch module using JCL.

TESCO GO (Group Ordering) was a team of 21 members which is involved in both online and batch changes for US retail IT operations by Tesco.

(a)Mass Trading Hours Update: Group Ordering (GO) system holds the details of store opening and closing times for all Tesco stores in USA. . There is a function in the online system which enables maintenance of these trading hours’ patterns. As part of this requirement, new user friendly online screen has been introduced on GO system using TELON & COBOL language, where Central Supply Chain users will be able to update the store opening time and/or closing time for a set of stores in a single process.

(b)Simpler Diaries: The purpose of this project is to find a Business Solution required allowing the Group Ordering system to handle ‘Near & Far Store’ Deliveries. This development consists of the following main changes in Mainframe System:

oA new Non Delivery Days control screen has been built.

oA new Non Delivery Days Exceptions control screen has been built.

oA new set of programs/screens have been built to allow the users to apply and maintain bulk overrides to the Non Delivery Days and Non Delivery Days Exceptions Controls.

oA new option, ‘Non Delivery Days Maintenance - Mass Update’ has been created.

oNon Delivery Days Table - Batch Update.

(c)GAP REPORTING: The purpose of this project is to find a Business Solution required allowing the Group Ordering system to handle ‘GAPS’ in the store shelf. This development consists of the following main changes:

oCobol DB2 Stored procedures has been coded to get the products which are all found ‘GAP’ in a store for a particular date and take immediate action to fill the same.

oOnline Screen has been built to update the necessary tables in real time in order to close the GAP in stores.

oA Summary report has been coded to provide the necessary details to the business every day through daily batch. SMARTTEST will be used to debug critical batch issues and solve it on time before business hours starts.

As a Team member, responsibility includes Production batch & online support and involved in Analysis, design, development, unit testing, code review, UTP review, documentation etc on multiple projects listed below.

(a)Arrow Maintenance

This is a Core Support/Maintenance project in Arrow Legacy System to support/maintain the batch & online mainframe applications used within the Arrow Retail system. As a team member, involved in production support and enhancements of Legacy Mainframe Applications used with in the Arrow system. As part of support activity, solved production, quality, online & batch problems in given time frame. Built new Arrow applications as per new business requirement in batch or online using COBOL-BATCH, COBOL-DB2 or COBOL-DB2-CICS languages.

(b)Arrow NAC City Alignment

This is to convert multiple branches to a single branch per city under a single company for sales business. This went live on January 3, 2009.

(c)ARROW-SHIPSOMP is a development project. The purpose is to design and develop a system to show the daily changes in the ship dates for sales orders due to changes in vender confirmed ship dates for the ordered part. This involves new screen and report to show the changes.

(d)ARROW-SHIP DATE ENHANCEMENT is an enhancement project. The purpose is to standardize the ship date value calculation in the system. His introduces the new variables Transit time to customer, PDC receipt time, PDC pick/pack time in the calculation of the ship date for the sales order line item

(e)Arrow MNT MISC is a conversion project for Arrow Electronics Inc. The purpose was to convert some existing Assembler programs to COBOL.
