Release3B EDW Development(Dec ‘07 – to – Mar ‘08)

This project is part of a big initiative by GAP Inc termed as SII (Systematic Inventory Initiative). The idea here was to retire existing legacy system which at present is supporting all the Merchandise planning and related areas to support Gap Inc’s various sub-businesses. Release3B is meant for In-Season planning. The project has been logically grouped into various Interfaces. Each interface consists of various processes which in turn is translated into ETL components. The team is responsible for development and deployment of ETL software for the Teradata Datawarehouse.

Teradata EDW Development(Feb ’05 – to – Nov ’07)

This project is an initiative for migrating GE Comfin’s existing EDW from Oracle to Teradata. The team is responsible for Development and Deployment of ETL software for TD EDW. In last 3 years I have been involved in end to end design of ETL application for various sub-businesses within GE Commercial Finance. Few major projects under this are listed below:

a. Release 1: This project got its name from the fact that it was first sub-business within GE Commercial finance to go in Teradata EDW. In this project I started as supporting hand in data modelling activities. Later I got involved in ETL development.

b. Consistency Phase1: This project was initiated to define about 28 business application under single definition. About 65 business parameters were identified to make them consistent across business in phase1. From this project onwards Informatica was chosen as ETL tool.


• Worked on complete SDLC from Extraction, Transformation and Loading of data using Informatica, Teradata.

• Involved in the analysis, design and development of all the interface’s using Informatica Powercenter tools in interface team and interfaced with all the other tracks for business related issues.

• Used Debugger to test the mappings and fix the bugs.

• Created mappings to move from Various Systems (CRM, OLTP) to EDW Stage/Core database.

This project was result of merger of GE HFS’ HPSC (Health care financial Service) into GE Comfin’s PMS (Portfolio Management system). Scope of this project was Business Mapping of HPSC Lease Plus System (GE’s Heath Care Financial Services) and the GE Commercial Finance’s PMS (Leasing and Loaning System) and development of ETL application.


• Data Modelling: I was involved in data Mapping between current Leasing System (PMS ) and the HPSC Heath care financials system (Lease Plus).

GECF UBB Conversion Systems (Jan’04– to – Jul’04)

This is a conversion project, which mainly deals with the conversion of UBB (Usage Based Billing) deals. Acquisition of IKON Canada portfolio by GE resulted in immense need of software that could handle conversion of UBB deals. Because of the volume of data and the complexity involved, Informatica was preferred as the data transformation tool. Codes were written in IDMS COBOL to facilitate conversion of the data to mainframe system. Apart from this, ATOREXX (Automatic Transaction Operation -Tool to automate the online screen Operation and Navigation) was used to minimize post conversion efforts put in by the user.

Acquisition Center of Excellence (Offshore/Onshore) (Mar’02– to – Jan’04)

This is a conversion project, which mainly deals with the Portfolio Management System. It converts the data from the acquired company’s system to the PMS system used by GE. Codes are written in COBOL to facilitate the conversion from one system to the other. For validation, and Upload to mainframe system, Excel macros are written in Visual Basic. Project uses the methodologies and tools of Six Sigma Design to make sure that the processes are 100 % defect less. This project includes Creation of Documentation for the existing JOBS (including Data Flow Diagrams), Developing IDMS and COBOL programs and shell scripts for Database Extracts.

Installed Base – GE Logistics System (Nov’00– to – Feb’02)

GEMS(Europe) has a client base across Europe. To provide instantaneous service to its clients the company maintains a highly sophisticated Information System. One of the components of this system is GE-Logistics System. The GE-Logistics System (from now on referred to as GELS) is as the name suggests a logistics system for the support of the service base of GE Medical System in Europe. This system is implemented across 13 countries in Europe known as affiliates. The system is structured with the Central warehouse located in France.
