● My role included setting up (8) Ikegami HDK-65 cameras in (2) studios, live switched and recorded to individual video recording devices. Everything was locked and jam-synced to the house reference.

● (8) individual channels of audio embedded in the picture, and simultaneously recorded to external audio recorders.

● Simultaneously, I supported/maintained (12) AVID Media Composer editing Suites with the Avid NEXIS® Client Manager, via Avid NEXIS E5 and Avid NEXIS E4 storage engines. 500TB of storage,

● (2) ProTools Ultimate systems w/Avid Pro Tools S6 control surface & Avid Pro Tools S3 control surface networked via the Avid NEXIS® Client Manager, and

● (2) Davinci Color Correction Suites are also managed by the Avid NEXIS® Client Manager.

● Managing the daily ingestion and backing up of the source media using ShotPut Pro, and redundant backup via TerraBlock storage. I also had to AMA-link and transcode the source material to maintain smooth operation (minimal network congestion) of the entire Post Production system.

● Creating proxy footage to reduce network bandwidth. Re-linking back to the original raw source material for color correction when the picture was locked.

● Managing each project that was limited to a total of 500 TB of storage, and managing a

(500 TB) DLT Tape backup system, and a verification database for all source material.

● Assure 24/7 uptime, zero downtime, legalize all content to broadcast (Viacom) specifications, and oversee final delivery of (60) episodes on time. This included uploading final edits to the Viacom MediaSilo servers.

● I fluently operate all of the equipment, software, and abundance of plugins, evaluate issues related to operator error, system errors and/or known bugs, and find a solution expeditiously. ● This incorporated building a soundproof room that maintained the audio characteristics that allowed the sound engineer to work without interfering with the other editing suites that are in operation (loudness), and also maintain high-quality audio not affected by the acoustics.

● The final project became the prize for post production edit suites that offered design, usability and functionality rather than foam or fabric on the walls. It was a very big success.

● My job was to find a solution to embed (52) audio channels synchronized in a single video stream. No known software was available to do this. Each episode for example,

“Sponge Bob Square Pants,” was recorded in (52) languages, and all of the audio stems lived in a different place than the original master. This caused a lot of problems, and subsequently, files were mistakenly deleted.

● We were able to create a template that allowed us to incorporate all of the (52) channels in one stream. We were able to deliver as a team a suitable delivery method that is now the standard protocol and workflow for Nickelodeon, MTV, and the Paramount Channel. I am Franky Engineer ViaCom International

● The preservation of our oceans is a subject close to my heart. For four years, I traveled around the world wanting to create a film about awareness. Little did I know that what I saw changed my outlook of the beautiful pictures I wanted to project. Instead, it became a film about dredging and pollution, how we are destroying our oceans and our planet at a devastating pace.

*Feature Film (8) cameras Shot on the RED Epic w/Jam-Box.

● Robert Townsend wanted to shoot with the Red camera and needed an experienced DIT, which didn’t exist at that time. Issues like using a jambox to keep the camera and audio locked were considered unnecessary and became a debate. Fortunately, I was able to convince them to follow my lead, which led to no post-production synchronization issues.

● Keeping track of (8) cameras shooting at the same time, backing up and redundant backup in native *.R3D file format, Storing LUT’s, inserting Metadata, keeping track of camera reel numbers, takes and timecode matching across all audio and video devices, proved to be a huge benefit in post.
