Brief Note on my Resrach Program

My doctoral research work was strain improvement by protoplasmic fusion in the Trichoderma fungal species for the enhanced lytic enzyme such as chitinase and cellulase production and biological control potential. I also analyzed proteins, DNA from these parent and fusant fungal strains. During my first postdoc period, I studied fusion protein with yeast AH109 cells, this fusion protein was identified by SDS-PAGE, western blot techniques and characterized for other activities. In the Second postdoc Steinernema carpocapsae nematode secreted serine, aspartic proteases and their role on host pathogenesis understood. Furthermore, gene expression using nematode developmental stages including infective juvenile stage was studied. Moreover, thermophilic Bacillus species was isolated from volcano soil samples and their cellulase, protease enzymes purified and characterized for the industrial applications. In the third posdoc, I moved to work on human and animal pathogenic bacteria Streptococcus species host specificity among Streptococcus species and their virulence mechanism on Page 7 of 7

pathogenesis. Different virulence factors, gene expression and protein were studied. The secreted cysteine protease studied to understand host pathogen Interaction. After joining as a Ramanujann Fellow (Scientist) in Madurai Kamaraj University, India, I have been continued to work on Streptococcus different species. Besides, different microbial and plant metabolites were checked antimicrobial activity against pathogens to understand resistance or susceptible phenotypes and genotypes. Based on my research experience, I would conduct research based on society issues like agriculture, healthcare and environmental aspects for the betterment of human life.
