Established, created, and designed a certified Medical/Legal Executive Nurse Consulting Business to provide education, training, evaluation, and research for law firms, private attorneys, hospitals, and medical clinics across the nation regarding the following topics:

Trained clients on Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurse Administrators, Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing and Advanced Practice Professional Nursing, Nursing Care and Regulation of Health Professionals, Administrative Rules of the State Board of Nursing, Nursing Documentation, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Curriculums and general education.

Successfully led various national initiatives including Joint Commission National Patient Safety campaigns, ACO’s pay for performance initiatives.

Extensive experience and performed a Gap Analysis regarding the Magnet Recognition Program, accreditation knowledge regarding all standards, required documentation, ongoing monitoring compliance and survey visitations.

Executive Nursing Consultant, Arizona Hospital 2013 – 2015

Worked directly in coordination with the CNO to establish five charters to correct and improve accreditation survey results. The five charters are as follows: 1) Patient Safety, 2) Pain management, 3) Pressure Ulcers,

4) Medication Management, 5) Physical and Chemical Restraints

Educated, trained, and demonstrated strong clinical best practices across the departments of nursing, ancillary staff, physicians, and mid-level providers to increase work quality and clinical efficiencies during the implementation of the five charters. Extensive collaboration among all team members was accomplished resulting in a positive correction of all deficiencies.

Organized a new Education Department from the ground up. Interviewed and hired new Director of Education two MSN RN educators, and one Assistant to Education Department. Fostered strong working relationships with executives, all nursing departments, physicians, revenue cycle teams, and ancillary services to focus on clinical best practice while balancing strategic organizational goals.

●Ensured continuous process improvement to obtain re-certification and accreditation for the hospital.

Director of Care Management, AmeriBen/IEC, Boise, Idaho 2011 – 2013

Developed and re-structured Compass Medical Management department, interviewed hired, and trained, twenty-four RNs, seven support staff, and three Physician Advisors. Designed and implemented new programs supporting pre-authorization and certification, case management, and disease management for 150 new business organizations.

Care management continued:

Enhanced personal capabilities of Physician Advisory team regarding preauthorization, correct patient status orders, and appropriate billing practices to deal with Cardiology, Vascular, and Interventional Radiology cases. Engaged with company’s attorney to deliver briefing on Denial and Appeals Process for all nurses and physician advisors.

●Deployed infrastructure changes throughout Care Management Departments focusing on best practices and all quality measurements.

●Formed a layer of five nurse managers to assist with onboarding and training new employees to the department. The same five managers and employees remain at the company to this day.

●Introduced and implemented Wellness program as well as Mother and Baby Program to increase patient satisfaction and experience.
