2017 (1 August 2017 – Present): Environmental, Health and Heritage Officer (Oudtshoorn Local Municipality)
Administer and manage all Environmental, Health and Heritage issues within the greater Oudtshoorn area; In terms of Environmental I’m responsible to attend to complaints and queries which includes: noise, dust, odour, overgrown properties, illegal dumping, burnings of waste, commenting on burn permit applications; site inspections using personal vehicle; drafting of inspection reports; enforcement and implementation of environmental related By-Laws; administering and managing Clean-up campaigns and environmental awareness and educational projects; responsible person correspond with all spheres of government in term of environmental issues; working in close relation with the waste management and cleansing services Departments of the Municipality; Air Quality Officer for the administration, enforcement and implementation of the Oudtshoorn Air Quality Management Plan; establishment of Oudtshoorn Air Quality By-Law.
Health – responsible to determine the possibility of any environmental related issue that may pose a health risk; responsible to communicate any possible health risk to the Eden District Municipality for further investigation.
Heritage –responsible for the Heritage component of the Municipality, which focuses primarily on buildings which are older than 60 years; also form part of the Heritage Oudtshoorn Erfenis (HOE) permit committee as representative of the Oudtshoorn Municipality.
2017(April 2017 – June 2017): Environmental Officer (Oudtshoorn Municipality) Seconded by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (Western Cape)
Primary duty was to administrate and manage air quality matters in the Oudtshoorn area (noise, dust and odors); initiating processes to establish policies and by-laws for the Municipality relating to environmental matters. ; initiating awareness project and clean-up operations in the Municipal area; responsible for all environmental related issues in the Municipal area; assist all Department of the Municipality regarding environmental issues; assist the Municipality with responses on Pre-Directives and Directives and all other relevant requests from the Provincial Department.; investigate historical and current environmental related complaints; making recommendations to the Municipal Manager regarding the handling of environmental issues and complaints. Represent the Oudtshoorn Municipality at District, Provincial and National forums and meetings relating to environmental matters; updating the Municipal Manager and the Provincial Department on environmental matters through monthly reports; engage with Cape Nature on Biodiversity matters; engage with the Law Enforcement Department of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning on environmental matters that could have possible legal implication on the Municipality.

Building and keeping a strong relationship with the Eden Health Department to assist in the water quality standards of the Greater Oudtshoorn; enforcement of Municipal By-Laws concerning the sewage and waste water system; public awareness on how the system works; communication with industries; inspections of industries and businesses (fat straps and how they dispose of waste water into the system); site visits on all three waste water treatment plants of the Greater Oudtshoorn ; monitoring test results of the water done by Eden Health and also the Oudtshoorn Municipality; attend to all environmental related issues in the Municipal area.

Initiating and taking part in community based projects; assisting with Waste Management issues and complaints; commenting on developments applications; environmental proposals for the Greater Oudtshoorn; assisting the Waste Management Department with regards to the Land fill site of the Greater Oudtshoorn and all pollution concerns; assisting the Department of Health on various site inspections; assisting the Western Cape Government (Air Quality Section) with the mobile air quality monitoring station located in Oudtshoorn; I have played an active role towards the development of an inter-Municipal team which includes the Eden Health Department, to enhance the wellbeing of citizens by focusing on issues such as the environment and the health concerns (Coordinator); initiated joint clean-up operations with Municipal Departments and Eden Health
