Medical Office Assistant (practicum – 240 hours) August 19 – September 16, 2019

Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB

Worked as part of the team of admitting staff in the Adult Emergency, Children’s Emergency, Women’s Hospital, as well as General Adult Admitting for procedures at HSC.

Registered patients under the supervision of trainers, put together all relevant forms to create patient charts for use by the nurses, doctors, and other health care professionals, and created patient wristbands using collected PHI.

Provided patients with assistance in navigating the hospitals sections and to find their next appointments after registration.

Became familiar with ADT EPR, EDIS, Clinical EPR as well as the Scheduling sections of Citrix.

Assisted with reception duties in the Women’s Hospital and the General Hospital.

Learned to use manual Addressographs during a recent systems downtime, and gained experience working with and adapting to a paper only system during the outage.
