Responsibilities include: Working under direct supervision of RN: Assessing patients at beginning of shift as well as monitoring changes, if any, throughout the shift, as well as documenting. Administering medications/treatments per Dr. orders and assessing pt. for effeciveness, then documenting. Deligating duties to personell, such as aids, cna's and communicating / working with them to make the pts experience as safe and comfortable as possible.
Dressing changes, foley catheter insertion and care/monitoring, starting Iv's, Gtube feedings, checking for appropriate placcment and monitoring how pt. is tolerating and documenting. At the psych/treatment, administrating dr. ordered meds as well as prns, both po and injectible. Taking time to talk with and listen to what pts are attempting to tell this writer. Giving option for self soothing and calming excercises. Setting up pts in solitary for brief periods of time if they are endagering community. All being documented, passed on to appropriate personel with continuing to monitor for safety and wellness.
