Project Name: Production of ethanol from cactus fruit and to study its properties and performance characteristics as an alternative fuel for CI engine. Role: Team leader.
Team size: 4 members.
Project Duration: 5 months .
Project details: After the successful conclusion of our project work on the performance tests for the Biodiesel blends and then comparing its properties and performance with Diesel, we can conclude that
Increase in the percentage of Ethanol in the Bio-diesel blends up to a certain limit will increase the overall efficiency of the Diesel engine.
The Flash and Fire point were compared and were almost less than that of Diesel. Also there was an increase in density.
The Viscosity were compared and were almost less than that of Diesel.
The Biodiesel-Bioethanol blends give a better Brake Specific Fuel Consumption when the engine runs at constant speed, which suggests that we can use this type of fuel in constant speed engines.
As the percentage of Ethanol in the Biodiesel increases, the Brake Thermal Efficiency increases.
In order to improve the heat supplied to the engine and to have better Thermal efficiency, some amount of Diesel can be added.
