Real time monitoring of pump house using plc via wireless transceiver

This project included monitoring of pump house by the use of PLC.

Indications for all the pumps were designed using PLC S7-300 to monitor the current status of the pumps in-house without physically going there.

Transceiver is used as a wireless communication module between pump house and maintenance department. It has a transmitter and a receiver which is placed in the department. The transceiver technology has been considered the easiest alternative method. 2.Energy Source Identification(ESI) for implementation of positive isolation

Formation of the ESI document in order to have an established and approved procedure for all energy isolation so as to avoid any deviation in the method of isolation and locking points by different persons.

This document can be referred to by any external agency which is asking for energy isolation and can be confirmed by them while placing the locks that the correct source has been isolated. Ongoing Projects:

1.Power Conservation in Pump House

This project has a scope of future development.

It is planned to be implemented in the pump house area of TATA Steel.

It is recommended that pumping systems, especially those that are larger in size be monitored and their respective parameters (pressure, flow, current) be logged. The trends and reports generated from this data will indicate if any of the characteristics change so that the system can be investigated and its preventive maintenance can be planned accordingly for maintaining optimum efficiency and performance.

2. Duct Heater On/off Provision Via Humidity Sensor

In the De-Humidification plant humidity needs to be maintained as it is a required constraint in steel manufacturing.

Humidity sensors need to be installed in order to actuate the duct heaters as per the humidity requirement.
