PROFILE

I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in a relatively small community in Virginia. With over 25 years in direct patient care, I have strong clinical skills that are enhanced by my natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. I am committed to following evidence-based guidelines that are blended with clinical experience, personal observation and intuition. I believe in strong communication among all members of the health-care team, and that collaboration allows for the best care for all patient populations. I obtained my FNP degree from Duke University in 2013, and have taken the past 5 years to develop my practice from being the Emergency Department nurse/ leader to a well established FNP. I am comfortable working in the multiple environments that include a strong background in rural health where I am able to serve large, underserved populations to an internal medicine office that is in a suburban environment. I am now looking for a position that can take the knowledge and skills that I have obtained and allow me to move forward with my career.

Along with the role of being a FNP, I have had the opportunity to develop and implement an adult and pediatric Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder program for the facility. This one program utilizes the Conner 3 software and scoring system. It has the capability of detecting pediatric and adult patients that are suffering from ADD/ADHD. Since the community does not have a psychiatric facility that has the capabilities to perform this testing, we are in the progress of collaborating with the mental health providers as an outreach for the community to provide both pediatric and adult testing for this disorder. As a part of this, I have also put into place a global assessment system for pediatrics along with an Early Childhood assessment program. These programs have also been made available to the mental health providers within the community for the testing of pediatric patients for early detection of mental health issues.

I have also been instrumental in the development and implementation of a concussion rating program for the community, so that the students that are involved in sports have a baseline if there is a significant head injury.

I am well versed in Women's Health along with contraception counseling.
