I am leading a finance team in UAE with seven subordinates and reporting to Group CFO and CEO. Finance Manager: (April 2016 to Present)

Prepare Annual Operating Plan (Budget) in coordination with all stakeholders including business development team, operation department, customer service, IT, human resource, admin and others.

Implement accounting policies and procedures in order to achieve the finance department’s objectives. Contribute towards the development and implementation of accounting and control policies and procedures.

Responsible for quarterly forecast and preparation of the management accounts on monthly basis as per management requirements. Produce and monitor a weekly flash report and liaise with the business on cost implications, providing them the financial and non-financial understanding.

Ensure month end process is completed as per KPI which involves completing all journals, balance sheets, intercompany accounting, suppliers & customers balance reconciliations, fixed assets register updates, finance cost calculation and recording, booking accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation & amortization etc and reconciliation to the general ledger system.

Manage a recovery department and review of customer aging and ensuring bad debts provision is kept at minimum level. Evaluate potential customer financial stability with respect to credit proposals, credit control and monitoring system. Supervise the invoicing and ensure its accuracy and completeness. Ensure effective and timely collection by setting targets for receivable team and timely action on issues.

Manage the payroll, staff benefits accruals for a current headcount of over 200 people. Involve in process of recruitment, development and appraisal of Accounts team. Mentoring the staff in their day to day activities. Establish, implement, monitor and evaluate corporate financial management, policies, procedures and structures to meet company goals. Train and review lower level staff in assuming new reporting and reconciliation duties.

Manage banking relationships, remittances to foreign and local vendors. Develop, recommend and direct all short term and long range financial plans consistent with corporate philosophy and strategies.

Manage Term Loan, overdraft and factoring facility and ensuring that no default has been made in any account. Preparation of documents including projections for renewal of existing loan and also for replacement and rescheduling of Term Loan. Pivotal in coordinating with the Banks for smooth day-to-day Financial Transactions and Bank Guarantees.

Review and filing of GPA quarterly returns to Emirates Post Authority and ensuring the compliance of their rules and regulations and meeting their quarterly payments and annual audit requirements.

Review and reconciliation of intercompany balances around the globe. Frequent, written and verbal communication with business units of TCS Group around the world (Pakistan, UK and Canada), which varied from resolution of queries, intercompany adjustments, payments and receipts etc.

Oversee the development of and monitor adherence to operational and capital budgets, and develop cost containment strategies as required. Suggest and implement ideas for savings and additional revenue generation.

Assist external auditors in ensuring that audits are completed timely through collaborating sufficiently and providing the necessary data.

Implement the processes and relevant changes with regards to VAT implementation in billing and accounting system as per guidelines.

Introduce a comprehensive credit policy for accounts customers in order to ensure the exposure is managed properly. By implementing a policy it has reduced the doubtful debts from 5% to 1.5%.
