Work Experience

Caregiver

Hospice Care - New Bedford, MA

November 2007 to October 2013

Hospice Care: I took care of my grandmother in her home, so she did not have to go to a skilled nursing facility. I worked with visiting nurses to learn how to help her practice her physical therapy exercises for the edema in her legs as she had Congestive heart failure. I changed dressings daily on leg wounds. Took care of her hygiene, shopping, meal preparation, prescription distribution and refills. She also had dementia, loss of bowel movement, Alzheimer's, and much more. The visiting nurses pushed me to go to school for medical assisting, but I am an administrative person. This is when they started to talk to me about coding as ICD-10-CM was going to be launched and because I was so precise it would probably be a good direction to go. So, I did and now I am finished with school, AHIMA certified, and desperately seeking employment.

About me:

I am, a highly capable, resourceful, detail-oriented, college graduate of 2017 who is actively seeking employment opportunities in the HIM Department. I am searching for a position to use the skill set I have gained from my education. I strive to be part of the medical community and provide my contribution to healthcare as a dedicated CCS, Certified Coding Specialist. I will do my utmost best to apply the most up-to-date coding conventions and guidelines to maximize quality care for patients. I will always take the appropriate steps to maintain proper reimbursement for all healthcare providers. I also would like to bring to your facility my former customer service and administrative strengths. I am highly motivated to obtain prompt, steady employment in any area of the HIM Department. I am seeking an inpatient facility coding position, but any position related to Healthcare Information such as filing, coding, or reception is also an area where I could be utilized, as I take immense pride in this profession. I revel in all aspects of medical coding. I can guarantee that though I lack the professional working experience, I have studied diligently, and I am always willing to learn. As previously stated, I want to help physicians/hospitals get the adequate reimbursement for the services they provide and to help our patients get the first-rate medical care that is needed. I do not take lightly the importance of everyone's medical record or/and report nor do I disregard the importance of proper physician and/or hospital reimbursement. I believe coding plays a key role in excellent patient care. My former employment background holds a solid history that includes efficiency, accuracy, creditability, and dedication. I can meet deadlines in high-pressure environments, multi-task, and I never shy away from lending a hand in different departments or learning new things. Good Ethics and Values are always at the top of my list. I am also a seasoned secretary, medical record filer, and receptionist. I really enjoy talking to people, problem and or /conflict resolution and I love to be responsible for organizing and scheduling things for that need my help. I have been doing this for years and have good skills, so I believe I can be a great employee That is the main reason for my job preferences

From my point of view, secretaries, coders, billers, nurses, assistants, every medical employee are very important to the facility they work at. From a secretary or administrative point of view I keep my bosses informed about important things, take care of the schedule and represent a first line of contact for most guests. What is more, a good secretary should do their best to keep a positive and motivating atmosphere in the office-at least that is what I always try to do.
