Sr. Project/Program Manager, KFORCE, New Bold Advisors, Mattila Consulting and Bay Force Inc., 2013-2018. Recruited for series of contract data warehouse and governance project management engagements serving clients such as MVP Health Care, an $10B financial services/investment banking firm and BB&T Banking. Directed major systems upgrade and migration programs, managing project budgets to $10M and staff to 20. Key contributions include:

Hired to create a data governance solution for a High-Tech provider. Hewlett Packard Enterprise, a $52B multinational enterprise information technology provider, and Manufacturing, engaged KFORCE to develop a comprehensive, long-term data management strategy. Installed and Fixed Salesforce Cloud Problems, MDM Informatica in cloud, SAP MM in the cloud, Security, imported D&B to improve quality, and Installed Hadoop Redshift/SPARK, Qlik Sense or Qlik View for Analytics reporting, Azure for Security and Siebel for partners. Governance Solution has been created across the Enterprise.

Created a data governance roadmap for a health provider. MVP Health Care, a $10B multistate healthcare provider network, engaged New Bold to develop a comprehensive, long-term data management strategy. Recruited as a key member of the team. Devised solutions for ACA compliance, SLR, automation, data Security, Cloud/virtualization, business intelligence, reporting, Claims, EDI and analysis. Provided a release pathway for MVP to gain a competitive edge by reducing costs, streamlining claims management, controlling IT risk management and ensuring regulatory compliance. MVP and New Bold installed IBM CURAM Health Care System and IBM Cognos Analytics Business Intelligence Reporting and IBM Info Sphere Data Stage -ETL tools for MVP to give them the edge. Governance Solution has been created across the Enterprise.

Directed an EDW migration, boosting performance for financial services client. A $10B commercial and investment banking firm came to Mattila for guidance in replacing an outdated DB2-based data warehouse. Designed and managed $12 million migration to a Netezza Enterprise Data Warehouse platform. Directing a team of ten consultants and 50 other professionals, integrated data gathering, data mining, data cleansing, reengineered reporting and analytics solutions. Delivered the one-year project on budget (financial tracking and forecasting) and ahead of schedule. Improved client satisfaction and system acceptance 40 points to more 95%. Sorry, I signed a non-Disclosure agreement.

Turned around a stalled SAP Hana S/4 & data warehouse program. BB&T was far behind schedule on replacement of a legacy mainframe system and implementation of a new EDW & SAP solution, having missed several go-live dates. Brought in by Bay Force to drive the troubled program to completion. Directed a team of 20 ETL programmers in three cities. Managed all release phases of the program from integration and reengineering the project plan, staffing and schedule to data governance, testing and validation. Directed 1,000+ flawless ETL jobs, successfully migrating all Release Implementations (2) 1 GL, Financial, SAP HCM, MDM Release 2 Sub Ledger, A/P, credit card, asset accounting, Release 3 sales/use tax and Release 4 SAP Treasury Modules and other data into SAP. Delivered all facets the program ahead of the new schedule and on or under budget. Member of the TCB review board.

Project Manager, Sysco, a $44B global leader in food service distribution, 1991-2012. Recruited to lead major enterprise technology and systems improvement programs. Repeatedly promoted to new assignments, including large scale EDW, ERP, ETL, SAP, Oracle, reporting/analytics/visualization and migration projects. Consistently exceeded all time and budget objectives while developing, delivering and supporting scalable, high performance solutions serving 47,000 staff and 400,000 clients globally. Key contributions include:

Improved functionality & slashed costs with a new financial sales analytics platform. Sysco needed new tools to better support its sales organization. Directed and designed a two-year $1.5M project to upgrade the firm’s existing Sysco Online Analytics Reporting System (SOLAR) platform. Led 80 in-house and offshore professionals. Created 100+ instances and related infrastructure, including seamless mobile device support. Enabled retirement of costly AS400 systems and migration to a scalable Netezza/Cloud integrated reporting environment across all 200 Sysco operating companies globally. Dramatically improved functionality, accessibility, reliability, Security(Azure) and user friendliness/satisfaction while slashing maintenance costs in half, saving $1M annually.

Implemented Sysco’s first-ever enterprise-wide OBIEE SAP platform. Sysco’s aging AS400 platform was costly, inefficient and failed to meet evolving user needs. Completed the complicated transition to SAP Platform for 15 AS400 Operating companies as a SAP S/4 Delivery/Testing/BW/Performance/Change/Upgrades/Validation, Release Manager.

Directed Mergers and Acquisitions migration, integration, boosting sales performance for acquired clients. A Multi $ B food company was acquired by Sysco and integrated into Sysco Landscape. Areas addressed: Supply Chain, Production, Planning and Scheduling, Product Data, Service, Human Capital, Sales, Customer Relationship, and Financial.

Implemented Sysco’s first-ever enterprise-wide reporting platform. Sysco’s aging DB2 data warehouse platform was costly, inefficient and failed to meet evolving user needs. Directed an award-winning five-year $10M EDW program from concept to go-live. Migrated to an Informatica ETL, BMC Control-M and IBM Pure Data/Netezza data warehouse appliance environment. Completed the seamless transition on time and on budget. Boosted user/client satisfaction 45 points to 95%+ while serving 1,500+ corporate, divisional and client end users. Provided groundbreaking reporting and analytics capabilities.

Saved millions & accelerated productivity with a new Inventory supply chain solution. Sysco was looking for ways to improve logistics, distribution and transportation. Designed and Developed a new platform from the ground up in a six-month $500K program to support a new regionalized supply chain paradigm. Created a game-changing process for optimizing management of SKUs based on critical parameters such as shelf life, cost reduction, integration and demand. Enabled high efficiency FTL shipments, saving tens of million of dollars annually in transport costs alone.

Delivered a national account Customer reporting system under tight time & budget constraints. Sysco lacked an effective tool for managing reporting/analytics of key national accounts such as Wendy’s, Arby’s, Sodexo, and Aramark, State, Government, stymieing effectiveness and agility in responding to shifting client needs. Designed and Directed the development and integration of a single $6 million comprehensive platform. Integrated more 150+ work streams/interdependencies while mitigating risk and resolving issues. Exceeded all milestones, beating performance, cost and quality milestones. Allowed Sysco to customize services for large accounts including corporate owned stores and franchisee operations.
