OBJECTIVE

I am a jack of all trades engineer who developed an intense work ethic early that

enabled me to work full time while completing my degree. My diverse work

experience provides strong prioritizing, written and communication skills. I work

extremely well in diverse groups and have excelled on both team and individual

platforms. My 7+ years of engineering experience includes small engineering

business management, government nuclear and industrial settings.

I currently live in Richmond VA, but my wife has recently accepted an offer in

Detroit, and I will will move to Detroit in the near future regardless of employment.

My objective is to acquire an engineering position in or near Detroit, MI, that will

challenge me, allow me to offer new ideas and solutions to, and that has a friendly,

professional environment associated with it.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; Minor in Mathematics

Saginaw Valley State University; University Center, MI 2005

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineer / Pressure Relief Consultant; Aerotek Sub-contractor

DuPont Teijin Films, Chester, VA 23836 March 2012 - Current

• Design and verification of safety relief valves and pressure systems.

Incorporate REGAGEPs, DuPont, ASME and API codes and standards into

over-pressurization analysis to specify and acquire relief devices and

associated components.

• High hazard system / Process Safety Management requirements identify and

prioritize equipment evaluations, and in addition to established codes and

standards, dictate the requirements of a pressure relief system.

• Review and validate process calculations, pressure balances, chemical

analysis, fluids, thermodynamics, interlocks, P&IDs & layouts. Consult

equipment / system experts.

• Experience includes Section I and Section VIII applications, steam and

condensate systems, polymer, Dowtherm and other hazardous fluids.

Mechanical Designer / Engineer

RLC Technologies, Glen Allen VA 23059 January 2012 – March 2012

• I left South Carolina (with ample notification) to pursue marriage in Virginia

without lining up a “long-term” position. Once in Richmond, I was fortunate

to find full time work immediately with RLC, providing AutoCad, Solid

Works drawings and shop drawings for fabrication as well as general

engineering and design assistance.

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE (continued)

Mechanical / Process / Reliability / D&D / Design Authority (DA) / Engineer

SRNS; DOE Savannah River Site, Aiken SC 29803 8/2009 – 1/2012

• The Savannah River Site (SRS) is a 300 square mile nuclear site regulated by

the Department of Energy (10 CFR). All aspects of engineering duties

utilized the SRS Engineering Standards, an off-shoot of DuPont Standards

originally used to construct the facility.

• Championed Safety and trained in the Integrated Safety Management Systems

(ISMS), involvement in BBS (Behavior Based Safety) observations and

frequently generated hazard analysis safety reviews for new equipment before

approving for field use.

• Trained and experienced in nuclear/hazardous settings including radiological,

respirator, plastic suit, asbestos/beryllium, lockout, scaffold, security, remote

worker, and hazard identification training.

• Frequently worked in groups, generated operating procedures and managed

remediation teams.

• Began SRNS career as a sub-contractor performing deactivation and

decommissioning of legacy nuclear facilities. Developed a vast amount of

heavy construction experience. As funding for deactivation scope began to

run out, the company hired me on as permanent employee for the TRU

project.

• Trans-uranic (TRU) waste remediation project experience where fissile

materials and nuclear reaction by-products are dispositioned.

• First objective was to modify a cold war nuclear processing facility to

accommodate the needs of the TRU project, then to implement remediation

efforts.

• Acquired Design Authority status over mechanical systems. Responsibilities

included process reliability and trending for fluid and pneumatic systems

(pumps, pipes, tanks, control valves, etc.) HVAC and ventilation, gantry

cranes, motorized container movement vehicles, airlocks, breathing air

systems, monitoring and alarm systems and various other systems.

Project / Design Engineer

Ascend Engineering Inc. (AEI) / VEETech P.C. /; Aiken, SC 1/2006 – 8/ 2009

• This company consisted of the president and myself, and together we built

water and air process treatment, environmental clean-up and bio-diesel

process facilities. The systems I engineered included pumps, piping, pressure

vessels, heat exchangers, steam systems, boilers, ventilation, centrifuges,

distillations and custom equipment (designed by me). I also designed a

parking lot and several civil construction type projects.

Ascend Engineering Inc. (AEI) / VEETech P.C. /; Aiken, SC 1/2006 – 8/ 2009

• Collaborated with vendors to ensure the mechanical needs of the design were

met. Generating pertinent documentation, including proposals, budgets,

zoning, EPA and construction permits, design drawings, architectural layouts,

P&IDs, start-up and maintenance manuals, waste profiles, service agreements,

etc. Managed construction, start-up and turnover of facilities.

• Often I ran the entire gambit of a small business. Marketing, proposals,

permits, engineering systems, budgeting, presentation, construction and

delivery; basically cradle to grave project engineering.

Engineer Co-Op

Delphi Automotive and SVSU 1/ 2005 – 8/2005

• Worked in a small team setting to develop a new electronic gear shift feature

for the Cadillac Deville, replacing the existing steering-wheel mounted

manual shifter with an electronic push button control shifter with LED

display. In early 2005 the design was innovative, and was used as a

foundation for Current Cadillac steering column designs.

Material Research and Testing Technician at SVSU 9/2003 – 5/2004

• Developed and tested corn-based bio-fuel compositions for presentation to the

Michigan Agricultural Board, fabricated an energy efficient corn-burning

furnace for use at a local homeless shelter. Developed various lab manuals for

testing devices.
