Classification: Program Administrator 3 - Licensure Operations and Compliance

Division: Licensure and Renewal

Location: 30 E. Broad Street - 3rd Floor; Columbus, OH 43215

Under the direction of the Chief of Licensure, this position will:

Provide program direction by acting for superior (Chief of Licensure) and relieving the Chief of Licensure of the most difficult administrative duties by planning and administering activities for the Board’s Licensure and Licensee Continuing Education program (e.g., develops and designs continuing education audit and waiver procedures).

Manage and supervise personnel in licensure operations unit.

Ensure adequate daily staffing of the licensure operations team, monitors the availability of training programs and provides developmental opportunities, assigns and reviews work, etc.

Provide program management and direction by serving as department lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on departmental policies, procedures and processes.

Serve as primary contact for the Board’s Continuing Education Auditing software platform provider.

Audit licensees and manage reports on compliance.

Refer violations for investigation and/or disciplinary action and waiver procedures.

Administer the non-disciplinary Continuing Education Deficiency Resolution program.

Serve as the Board’s lead for matters related to the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) (e.g., develops procedures and protocols for processing licensee applications).

Serve as the Salesforce lead for system development, testing and rollout for changes necessitated by compact procedures.

Serve as the liaison to the Board’s fiscal department for application revenue and expenditure reports.

Perform a variety of administrative duties as assigned to facilitate operational efficiency, such as processing documents and preparing operational reports produced by Medical Board staff.

Pay Rates:

Unless required by legislation or union contract, candidates can expect to be paid at the lowest rate in the salary range (Step 1). In most cases, the employee will move to the next step in their pay range after completion of 180 days.

About Us:

The State Medical Board of Ohio issues licenses and oversees the practice of allopathic physicians (MD), osteopathic physicians (DO), podiatric physicians (DPM), massage therapists (LMT), and various other allied health care professionals under the authority of the Medical Practices Act, Chapter 4731, Ohio Revised Code (ORC). The Medical Board continues to regulate naprapaths and mechanotherapists licensed by the Board before March 1992.

The Medical Board also regulates Physician Assistants, ORC Chapter 4730, Dietitians, ORC Chapter 4759, Anesthesiologist Assistants, ORC Chapter 4760, Respiratory Care Professionals, ORC Chapter 4761, Acupuncture, ORC Chapter 4762, ORC, Radiologist Assistants, ORC Chapter 4774, and Genetic Counselors, ORC Chapter 4778.

The Medical Board’s regulatory responsibilities include investigating complaints against applicants and licensees and taking disciplinary action against those who violate the public health and safety standards set by the General Assembly and the Medical Board.

What You'll Do:

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.
