Maintenance Technician 10 October 2015 – 08 April 2016 KIRA VALVES and ENGINEERING
Key responsibilities: I was responsible for maintaining and refurbishing Valves and T-strainers. I have knowledge in stripping (removal of valve parts), analysis and replacing parts such as Valve stems and packing. Amongst many other skills I have acquired during my stay at Kira includes pressure testing of types of valves such as Gate, Globe, Butterfly and Plug Valves. I was given a chance to design and develop a Jib crane that would fit two different machine with heavy flanges, and Valve bodies. I was able to go to site during shutdown in Factories like Sappi and Eskom to strip and replace necessary parts of the Valves and T-strainers. Reasons for leaving: Contract expired
Mechanical Designer 08 April 2015 – 08 October 2015 POWERTECH TRANSFORMERS Key responsibilities: To provide CAD expertise to mechanical engineering function in the form of preliminary and detail parametric 3D model drawings with Powertech transformers standards and procedures. I developed practical production knowledge by regularly working in Fabrication workshop to understand more on sheet metal work through Bending Press, Rolling Press and different types of welding process. I also worked in Machine Shop where I was turning flanges through Center Lathe machine and CNC (Computer Numerical Control). I was also responsible for designing a laser cutting programme codes using Sigma nest software for Flange cutting. All this practical process gave me a very strong background in parametric CAD design software since I was familiar with all the production process.
Reasons for leaving:
