PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

STIG (Simple-targeted- integrated-grounded):

Barclay’s made a decision to replace all Operational Risk Systems with a single solution. This single solution was implemented globally for Barclay’s entities, but then the announcement that Barclays Would sell down its interest in including the systems used for Operational Risk management. Operational Risk will enable and protect the business by aligning to strategic priorities and focusing on material matters, cut bureaucracy out of our processes and challenge bureaucracy where it present itself. In ORSM focus on understanding and interpreting the risk profile in the context of the business objectives and execution priorities and eliminate control orientation where it is not warranted and comply with regulation and process –based-risk assessment, scenario analysis, loss data, indicators and analytics will be used as primary tools for monitoring changes in the risk profile. We will report an accurate risk profile which captures the inherent nature of the business line or country.

MBL (Mandatory Block Leave)

The Mandatory Block Leave (MBL) Application is currently used by Corporate and Investment Bank employees who are subject to the Global .MBL Policy to book MBL and for the Front Office Risk and Control Team for monitoring purposes. The MBL Standard will be extended to other clusters within the Bank. The purpose of this document is to provide a statement of requirements for a tactical system that will be used to replace the Barclays PLC MBL Application temporarily until such time that the strategic solution ‘Workday’ is live. The required reporting mechanism will be used to track completion of policy requirements and to identify all employees who have yet to satisfy the MBL requirement for the current calendar year and instances of MBL taken until March of the following year. Expected delays with the Workday solution go-live dates staggered approach to the Workday roll-out, specifically to the Rest of Africa countries who are also In-Scope for MBL these delays will require a tactical solution to be in place given that the strategic solution will only be available to ALL In-Scope employees post the TSA date. The existing MBL system currently requires employees to log on to a web based application to capture and request approval for MBL and also requires those employees to apply for the same number of days on the HR System. In Scope Employees can thus select any leave type on the HR SAP System e.g. Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Maternity Leave etc. The employee’s Line Manager is required to approve the MBL Request Employee access to the network and systems is currently revoked for the duration of MBL. This is handled by daily feeds from the existing MBL system to the Access and Identification Management System. The employee is required to complete an Attestation when they return from MBL confirming that they have not violated the MBL Rules The Line Manager is then required to also complete an Attestation confirming that the employee has not violated the MBL Rules and has thus completed their MBL Requirement for the current year.
