I have been in my current post as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist for over six years. I am competent and experienced in the assessment, planning, consent and management of patients undergoing radical and palliative radiotherapy. I have good anatomical awareness and radiological diagnostic knowledge necessary for accurate contouring. Also trained and skilled at fiducial marker insertion for prostate SABR treatment – delivered within CORE trial in the UK.

I am competent at the planning and delivery of SABR treatment to nodal and bone metastasis. In addition I am PI for a number of paediatric radiotherapy trials SIOP HRMB High risk medulloblastoma, FarRMS – Rhabdomyosarcoma and SIOP EPII – Ependymoma In treating Paediatric malignancies I cover all disease sites including primary brain tumours – requiring MR fusion to IMRT craniospinal treatments. I also do plan and prescribe Total Body Irradiation for haematological malignancies.

My extensive formal registrar training covered competencies at all disease sites. I have completed a number of skills workshops within RCR IMRT and brachytherapy courses and the Advanced Radiotherapy Techniques course in addition to Pelvic nodes and prostate bed and dominant intraprostatic tumour boost radiotherapy, more recently the UK SABR consortium Workshop. Furthermore, I am proficient in the management of radiotherapy induced side effects. Systemic therapy experience

As a Clinical Oncologist my clinical practice and training in the UK is unique in that I am dual accredited in the prescription of systemic anti-cancer therapies as well as radiation therapy. I am competent in the use of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and concurrent chemo-radiation protocols. I assess patients and manage toxicities associated with all systemic therapies and anaphylaxis. I regularly lead the acute oncology ward round of emergency admissions. I am competent and experienced in the management of cytotoxic induced side effects. I have successfully submitted a number of recent drugs to our Drugs and Therapeutic Committee for the provision of advanced systemic therapy to our patients. Training and teaching experience

I take great pride in my teaching roles within my hospital and in association with the Sheffield University Medical School at an undergraduate level. Recently at my centre I was involved in the training of six senior registrars in preparation for the FRCR exam- five of whom passed.

We in Sheffield hold an annual Chemotherapy and Preparatory FRCR course – which attracts delegates nationally and internationally. I have been involved in teaching on both. I am involved in local postgraduate medical education at our centre and have established a number of workshops and training days covering advanced imaging techniques and urological malignancies. Are outcomes of adjuvant vaginal vault brachytherapy in endometrial cancer related to the way it is delivered?

MSc Oncology research project - Distinction. Weston Park Hospital 2010. A retrospective analysis of the efficacy, relapse rate, treatment related complications and overall survival of patients with Stage II endometrial adenocarcinoma treated with adjuvant vaginal vault brachytherapy following surgery with focus on the method of treatment delivery and comparing this with available literature.

The results of this study were published in the Journal of Radiotherapy in Practice and presented as a poster at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in London 2010 and orally at the Gyne-oncology study day in 2011.

Primary thyroid lymphoma: The 40 year experience of a UK lymphoma treatment centre. International Journal of Oncology 2012.

A review of the clinical and pathological features of patients with thyroid lymphoma over a 40-year period by the Sheffield Lymphoma Team - one of the largest series conducted in the UK. FDG-PET parameters as predictors for outcome following Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) Body Radiotherapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. Presented as a poster at World Lung Cancer Congress, Sydney October 2013 and European Cancer Congress, Amsterdam 2013. Investigation of a range of FDG-PET parameters (Tumour SUVmean, SUVmax, Tumour:Liver SUVmax and SUVmean ratios, Tumour:Mean Blood Pool SUVmax and SUVmean ratios and TLG –Total lesion glycolysis) as predictors for outcomes following SABR in early stage NSCLC. SUVmax was the strongest predictor for outcome.
