Claims Software Development Manager/Senior Software Developer January 2002 – November 2012

Responsible for transitioning a vendor maintained claim system to an in-house development team. Developed specifications and coded all major modifications to the claim system while employed as a developer using Visual Basic 6. At Kemper I developed code to convert hundreds of claims from two different claim systems that were integrated into our system. Promoted to Project Lead in 2004 and managed a team of developers writing various claims interfaces to material damages, medical bill review, and claims information systems. This team was also responsible for maintenance and enhancement of all core claim applications. Led team through development of a “First Notice of Loss” system using C#. During this time led team integrating processing of homeowners, boat and umbrella claims into our system. Team was also responsible for management of a check processing application. Primary maintenance developer making changes to an online ColdFusion web application using a mix of ColdFusion and ASP.Net technologies. Also primary developer responsible for making changes to a VB.Net web based ASP.Net material damages system. Primary developer responsible for creating C# based web services from the ground up.

Implemented “Software Development Life Cycle” practices where none previously existed. Have experience using Microsoft Project software to develop project plans and project time lines.
