Sr. Mechanical Designer V Responsibilities and accomplishments include:

Cad Manager of Mechanical Engineering Department. Responsible for establishing all engineering standardization and compliance for use with Pro-Engineer software for 14 end-users in Nuclear, and X-Ray divisions.

Co-lead engineer in developing five different Nuclear Imaging table designs for use in flagship suite of Nuclear/PET (Positron emission tomography) imaging systems. All five table units were incorporated into new roll-outs of Nuclear and CT CAT Scan Imaging equipment.

Created assembly drawings for use by manufacturing to assemble imaging tables, and supported any issues that arose during the first new roll-out of systems. Imaging tables were developed creating sheet metal enclosures, covers, composite materials, injection molded components.

Co-lead Design Engineer involved with developing the first infectious disease Medical CAT/SCAN imaging patient table-used of its kind for use in a Bio-Containment environment use for infectious disease research studies and control at (NIAID) National Institute Allergy and Infectious Disease headquarters located at the US. Military Base at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Upon completion of this product design was awarded “Innovation Product Design of the Year” in Popular Science magazine, and I was Co-awarded a patent for this design; of a stainless table used for use in a De-con Biological research environment.

Team member of Nuclear/PET medicine sustaining engineering group, supporting all FDA audits to maintain full compliance for all imaging units which include legacy and new product roll-outs.

Product Designer Responsibilities and accomplishments include:

Cad Manager of Mechanical Engineering Dept. in charge of all of establishing Mechanical CAD Standards. Ensured team of six cad-users complied in their designs to company standards drawing standards. Reviewed and checked all designs prior to release to tooling vendors. Ensured that part designs complied with injection molding principles by creating proto-type mock-ups that were subjected to destructive testing, prior to release to production.

Lead Mechanical Product Designer responsible for all engineering documentation for new and legacy products. Developed products from concept to final design which included using Thermoset, Thermoplastics, Nylons, polycarbonate, and flame retardant materials used in an electrical environment, for consumer/medical environments, electrical stampings, sheet metal electrical enclosures, explosion proof handlamps, and enclosures.

Created and maintained ISO 9001 Q.C. Inspection reports, and Manufacturing by supporting new and existing products. Trouble shooting and supporting manufacturing and assembly line issues.

Supported Electrical Engineers for the compliance of U.L. Standards for the assurance of product quality and end-use safety by developing assembly drawing product data reports used for manufacturing to assembling products.

Interfaced directly with Tool and Die Vendors in the assistance of design and manufacturing of all In-house tooling to ensure all tooling met engineering standards to allow for long running tool life of producing 2 million – 3 million parts per tool.

Designed airfoil ceramic die tooling inspection fixtures for the U.S. Government Dept. of Defense for first article inspection of airfoil turbine vanes used for jet propulsion systems.

Designed and detailed plastic and wax injection investment casting molds, and medical hip replacement; investment casting/wax tooling, for CNC tool paths.

Created details from designed tool and die layouts from customers part specifications for customers which include General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and AMP Corporation.
