Hydrogen Process
• UIC Engineering Expo Winner in the petrochemicals category.
• Designed and simulated a hydrogen plant using ASPEN and Visio to obtain Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram
(P&ID)
• Hydrogen gas process with a carbon capture unit to lower carbon dioxide emissions and sold to power fuel cell trains
• Performed simulation, market analysis, cost analysis and sizing of equipment, as well as HAZOP analysis for process control. Ethanol Process
• Team lead for a bioethanol design project
• Designed, simulated and presented a dry-milling corn process
• Utilized ASPEN process simulator to obtain process flow diagram (PFD)
• Performed energy and economic analysis
Vinyl-Chloride Process
• Analyzed the process with a group of students to make it operate efficiently and safely
• Performed pinch analysis and heat exchanger network to optimize process, as well as HAZOP analysis for process control
• Utilized Visio software to obtain PFD’s and P&ID of before and after heat integration Gas Subcooled Process Design
• Performed detailed heat and mass balances of the process which used a natural gas stream and recovered natural gas liquids.
• The process had as a target 90% of ethane recovery in the bottoms of the de-methanizer and it was carbon dioxide sensitive
• BFD and PFD were obtained from ASPEN Plus simulator.
• Capital and Operating Costs were performed
Pack Bed Reactor Design
• Coordinated with a team to design and simulate a packed bed reactor, and used multiple reaction tubes with external cooling
• Employed vanadium-phosphorous-oxide catalyst (VPO) to produce to Maleic-anhydride by selectively oxidizing butane
• Utilized polymath software to solve for multiple differential equations simultaneously Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
• Used computational tool in Excel to design the shell and tube heat exchanger to cool liquid methanol using brackish water.
• Physical properties were obtained by running a simulation in ASPEN Plus Employment History
