Involved from an early stage in the development of a system to provide timely and accurate information to support both internal (Balanced Scorecard) and external (Government) Performance Indicators, based on the analysis of institutional and public domain data.

Responsibilities included business analysis, process modelling and authoring functional specifications as well as data modeling and data warehouse design.

The Data Warehouse was populated from an Ingres RDBMS and several departmental systems using Microsoft Access, as well as existing SAS systems. ETL was coded in Base SAS 8.2 on Solaris, using in-house change management and scheduling tools.

Reporting was provided both in-stream in the ETL routines and through an end-user interface in SAS IntrNet which allowed the institutional research and funding community to develop and publish dynamic web reports with a minimum of technical knowledge. 1996 to 1998 Analyst/Programmer

SAS Developer on the Financial Data Warehouse team.

Designed, specified and developed a fraud detection and debt control system which assisted the recovery of £17.5M from third parties in the first six months of operation. The system was built from a combination of Base SAS for ETL, SAS AF, SAS EIS and SAS GIS on a combination of PC and MVS hardware, using SAS CONNECT and SAS ACCESS for client/server operations and real time access to the underlying OLTP data (held in DB2).

Responsible for the provision of clinical trials data to external clients to support the licensing of pharmaceuticals.

Helped develop a flexible file format for the interchange of clinical trials biochemistry data from the company to its European partners and sponsors.

Also responsible for the strategy and planning of corporate systems to support information management.

This included extensive deployment of SAS to support quality control, as well as the development of standard clinical trials reporting and QA.
