A Billing Systems Coordinator position was created when the Cedars Sinai Medical Network Service went on the Epic Billing System from the IDX medical billing system.
*Review appointments by physician and compare to chart and outcome of billing to determine if all applicable charges were captured.
*Obtain reports from our EIS team of missing charges from our new system and review each charge to determine why they might be missing. Once determined, I would implement a system fix or educate the end user (physician, MA or nurse) on how to fix the error so it's not made again in the future.
*Trained with the EIS team at new clinical "go lives" on our Epic Billing System as a resource for professional billing aspect. Help desk for the ICD 10 initiation to help field questions from the end users who were using the billing system and had questions with the new processes.
*Met regularly with operations managers of various practices to go over billing errors and coding issues that were determined errors by the system and the billing team.
*Part of the physician onboarding process which entailed welcoming the physician into the practice and training them on the Inpatient Billing process thru the Epic Resolute system.

A part of a large Hematology/Oncology clinic that joined Cedars Sinai and acclimated that clinic to the billing system as well as work flows and practices from front end to billing.
*Compared charge tickets to the patients chart to ensure all charges were captured.
*Handled phone calls from patients for billing inquiries, payment plans and went over procedure quotes and insurance benefits with patients.
*Maintained insurance training for new hires once monthly during their orientation process.
*Met regularly with physicians and staff regarding billing errors and registration errors that occurred that hindered timely payer payments. Delivered that education to the staff and operations managers.
Physician Billing Coordinator

A Physician Billing Coordinator acts as a liaison between the professional billing team and the physicians and nursing staff to improve and educate on medical billing practices.
*Using IDX billing system, charge tickets were reviewed to ensure all aspects of charge capture vs maintained by comparing the charge ticket to the patient's chart. Errors found were brought back to the error maker to correct and to educate.
*Handled phone calls by patients who had questions about their bill or to make payment arrangements.
*As an Insurance Trainer for the new hires that would join the medical group as part of their orientation. Training was once monthly.
*Handled multi-specialty clinics and physicians billing as they came aboard Cedars Sinai due to the expertise with the system as well as billing.
