Please consider my application for a full time position. I have a Baccalaureate Degree in General Studies (BGS) with a major in Psychology and a minor in Business, as well as a Certificate in Addictions Counseling. I have over twenty years of progressive experience in an office environment, including medical and mental health fields, the legal field and ten plus years in various sectors of private industry including retail, banking, not for profit organizations and the federal government. I am currently employed as an Office, Program & Walk Coordinator in a full time position with The Arthritis Society. Although this is a rewarding and diverse position, monetary constraints suggest that this position may not continue.

I feel that my studies have put me in the unique position of being effective and calm in volatile situations and have afforded me many opportunities to assist people and produce positive outcomes. My past experiences as the President of a not for profit organization and leadership and community involvement with the Girl Guides of Canada has been beneficial in these situations as well as with regular employment. I have developed experience with fundraising and supervision of paid staff and volunteers. I am interested in and proficient at maintaining a well run and efficient office and have a good eye for detail and accuracy. I have compassion and integrity and can deal with a myriad of situations calmly and effectively while maintaining confidentiality. In addition, I have experience with many aspects of accounting including payroll, and enjoy new challenges. Prior experiences have included retail and customer service as well as data processing. I have had the responsibility of all customer service, and administrative staff processes such as interviewing, hiring and supervision. Many of my past positions have included computer based research and report and proposal writing. Past experiences have also included customer service sales in person and via telephone and I have been employed at a ladies wear establishment as a sales associate. I previously held a Commissioner for Oaths certification, however let it lapse as it was not recently required to maintain. I would be a great fit with your organization as I have experience with and can fully appreciate many of the requirements involved in the job description.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to relate to individuals from clients to stakeholders to government officials and I feel that a position such as this can utilize these strengths.

EXPERIENCE:

All of my experiences have become more responsible with very diverse skill sets. Currently, I organize and execute the annual Walk For Arthritis which I have done successfully for the past 5 years. This requires fundraising as well as event planning. I also represent the Edmonton region with presentations and stakeholder meetings; as well as attending partner AGMs and other events. This is in addition to managing the office in all areas including staff supervision (seasonal staff) and volunteer recruitment and management. I also have the responsibility of interviewing and hiring any seasonal staff. My current position involves creating new stakeholder relationships and partnerships and maintaining them. I ensure fiscal responsibility according to and adhering to budgets.

I have experience in customer service and communications, office administration, reception, planning and booking travel, maintaining calendars, technical writing, grant and proposal writing, financial planning, accounts receivable and payable, and monthly reporting. I am also familiar with many data bases and am proficient with Raisers Edge, Quickbooks and Microsoft Office Applications. I am also proficient at organizing meetings and taking and transcribing minutes. I compiled and quantified data and entered information accordingly. I also have experience with designing and printing promotional materials as well as writing editing and “proofing” technical and other documents.

When with Senior Homecare by Angels I made family visits to assess the level of care needed by clients. I assisted clients in their homes with light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal hygiene and/or any other (non medical) help they require
