August **, ****

To whom is may concern,

First I want to thank you for your time and consideration as a candidate for this position. As a native New Yorker, nothing brings me greater joy than the prospect of relocating back to New York and working for a hospital system at the forefront of orthopedic care.

I am a graduate of Quinnipiac University’s Physician Assistant program, class of 2017. As a student, I was extended an offer to join the Yale New Haven Hospital System as a member of their Orthopedic and Neurosurgery PA team. It has been a privilege to work with such professional, knowledgeable, and team oriented staff. Throughout the first year of my career, I have learned from my colleagues at Yale, the meaning of patient centered care, evidence based medicine, and the importance of a team spirit. I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s finest Advanced Practice Practitioner, Resident, and Physician staff; an experience, which I know has changed the trajectory of my career for the better.

My background specifically includes covering the following services: Spine, Fracture, Arthroplasty and Trauma. A particular sense of pride is held within the 16 member Advance Practice Practitioner team at YNHH, in that we cover the Arthroplasty, Spine, and Fracture services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. It is the APP team, which makes serving the diverse New Haven and greater New Haven community possible. My work consists of covering this 50-70 patient service through a variety of shifts, spanning 10-24hours. Duties include medical floor management, consult pager management, first assist obligations in the operating room, and pre/post operative examinations. Additionally, I was asked by my clinical manager to organize the educational program for our staff. This has been a particular pleasure of mine considering this year’s rapid expansion in my Orthopedic and Neurosurgical knowledge. Through this program I have been charged with the task of organizing regular lectures on at least a monthly basis.

Thank you for your consideration. It would be a privilege to discuss potential opportunities within your group in the future.
