Duties required interface with marketing, analysis, fabricating, purchasing, and manufacturing personnel to develop new products in an economically feasible manner. Also involved in design engineering for railroad freight car structures in direct coordination with project engineers, manufacturing engineers, and related support personnel. Verification of the design sometimes involved component and structure testing as conducted and/or supervised by design group personnel according to industry and customer established standards. Additional support encompassed the investigation and resolution of warrantee items and customer claims, and resolution of emergent production (shop floor) issues. TRACOR APPLIED SCIENCES INCORPORATED, Rockville, MD Group Functional Supervisor - Submarine Engineering Department Responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Special Projects Group in direct support of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Program Managers dealing in the development and modification of operating cycle philosophies for the Navy’s Attack Class Submarines. Acted as a liaison between customer and outside agencies including shipyards, manufacturers, and other NAVSEA technical directorates.

First Class Petty Officer (Mechanical Operator - Nuclear and Propulsion Plant) Submarines Responsible for the operation, training, and maintenance of submarine nuclear propulsion plants and associated systems. Supervised operations and performed corrective and preventative maintenance on various nuclear and propulsion plant equipment of a Fast Attack Class Submarine. As the Machinery Division Repair Parts Coordinator, was responsible for the supply logistics of technical equipment for the ship’s machinery division during major overhaul and normal submarine patrol operations.
