Manufacturing Engineer Intern May 2016 – August 2016 Rane (Madras) Limited, Chennai, India

• Contributed to achieving a target of reduction in rework of Rocker Shaft due to hardness variation from 14300 PPM to 0 PPM.

• Used QC tools like Pareto Chart, Cause & Effect Diagram and Check Sheet to identify situation, analyze and take counter measures.

• Conducted ANOVA to identify factors, interactions and levels and picked optimum combination of factors from the results.

• Developed detailed CAD drawings of fixture to control spline hardness variation in shaft and prepared Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Performed Statistical Process Control(SPC) on Bearing Seating Diameter using Microsoft Excel. Mechanical Engineer June 2014 - May 2015

SASTRA Precision Forging, Tanjore, India

• Design verification of Supplier specification with standard requirements of diesel engine double rocker arm using SolidWorks.

• Responsible for Feasibility report, 2D, 3D design changes, GD&T Check, Supplier interaction,BOM maintenance & Quality analysis.

• Performed tolerance stack up (TSU) analysis and brainstorming sessions to resolve potential problems in technical review meetings.

• Performed FMEA, Critical to Quality (CTQ) and part risk classification documentation for engineering change request (ECR).

• Worked with suppliers and cross functional teams to perform data analysis and product costing of rocker arm replacement.

• Documented work instructions and schedule planning for vendors as a part of PLM & PDM activity.

• Assured the quality of the product delivered to the customer by facilitating Supplier meetings and implementing the corrective actions. Manufacturing Engineer Intern May 2014 – June 2014 TVS- Sundaram Brake Lining, Chennai, India

Statistical Analysis of Factors Affecting Insulation Performance of a Homemade Thermos Flask – Design of experiments (DOE)

• Performed a 2^k factorial design to determine the effects of numerous factors on the performance of a homemade thermos flask.

• Collected data from the non-replicated experimental set up, performed ANOVA and set up Regression Model using JMP software.

• Found that shape of container had least effect while temperature of stored fluid had the most effect on the performance of the flask. Smart Pill Dispenser – Product Development -

• Envisaged a smart pill dispensing device concept aimed at reducing the number of injured due to medication error in America.

• Conducted a Qualtrics survey in collaboration with Mayo Clinic to identify the most desired feature in the pill dispenser, analyzed the collected data and gained valuable insight on the demography, customer requirements/user needs and preferences.

• Carried out part & assembly design of dispensing structure and mechanism with appropriate clearances & tolerance using SolidWorks.

• Integrated the design with SparkFun IR motion sensor, SparkFun ESP8266 Thing and Blynk application in smartphone to enable IoT, developed an Arduino script to automate timed email notification in the user’s smartphone.

• 3-D printed the prototype using MakerBot Replicator 2, established procedures and performed hands-on experimental testing to validate product and the device successfully dispensed capsules of numerous sizes after an iterative design process.
