Unconventional Tasks

Recognized the need for enhancing well performance while reducing the effect of well interference in Bigstone/Duverney, Canada. Proposed to completion and development asset teams a new analysis approach based on real-time post frac job and production data. A workflow was created using Mfrac suite and Harmony. Demonstrated: o Fracking time can be reduced by 30 to 40% while keeping the same fracture geometry.

o Lateral length and fracture spacing are as much important as fracture geometry to enhance production.

o Cross-gel fracking fluids help better in fracture confinement and limiting interference with infill wells.

Built PVT model for gas condensate in Bigstone/Duverney, Canada. Found model not representative of the in-situ reservoir fluid due to the deviation from early production CGR and late time sampling. Proposed an adjusted model, higher Psat, to capture the early CGR profile. Concluded to improve sampling methodology and collect more samples.

Understanding the impact of competitor offset wells on production performance and EUR of future infill drilling in Sundance/Edson, Canada. Built a sector dynamic model using petrel-RE to match production of existing wells. Used uncertainty workflow to deal with the no uniqueness of history matching. Concluded:

o 1 well with optimized lateral length and fracture spacing can replace 2 wells o OGIP possibly higher by 3 to 5% by adding another potential formation implying a completion re-design of future wells.

Acknowledged the uncertainties of pre-screening development plan related to well count and EURs generated by only Type Curve in Sundance/Edson, Canada. Initiated a workflow using Harmony to conduct analytical and risk analysis on existing competitor production data. Extended the workflow to include dynamic sector modelling using Petrel-RE aiming to optimize lateral length and fracture spacing. Concluded 2 wells by sector are sufficient and EUR by well could potentially be lifted by up to 40%. Conventional Tasks

Booking reserves and propose preliminary development plan of Pandora gas field, Papua New Guinea. Investigated the possibility of sour gas sequestration into a large aquifer and diffusion effect of H2S and CO2 on gas zone using sector modelling and two PVT regions. Demonstrated a deeper gas injection into aquifer and an optimized gas withdrawal maintain sour gas confined in aquifer for more than 50 years which allowed to use one PVT region in the fullfield model without diffusion. Conducted DSTs matching, well count and production plateau optimization. Run sensitivity study to study the effect of reservoir and completion parameters on recovery. Performed risk analysis to estimate the P10, 50 and 90 reserves.

Contributed in optimizing the field development plan of Kurdamir and Topkhana field, Kurdistan. Built gradational PVT model to capture the variation of fluid composition with depth. Grouped SCAL data by facies distribution. Built and tested multiple compositional simulation models to study single and dual porosity, and dispersion effect. Matched available DST and EWT data. Assessed the effect of natural depletion, gas recycling, waterflooding on EUR. Optimized development phasing, gas and oil plateau production, lateral length and well count. Participated in booking oil and gas P10-50-90 reserves.

Assessed the impact of reservoir blowdown on the ultimate gas (solution and injected) reserves in undersaturated oil Veslefrikk field, Norway. Evaluated trapped gas saturation while watering out the reservoir (details in spe 38475). Conducted sensitivity study on critical gas saturation and additional well number using pre-existing eclipse model. Concluded no extra investment needed to reach gas recovery of 40 to 50%. 2011 – 2012



As a member of BG Advance group, the work achieved is:

Built gas condensate PVT models of Jackdaw field, North Sea, and Hasdrubal field, Tunisia. PVT models included in the dynamic models by the respective asset teams.

Contributed in optimization process of gas recycling volume to balance between gas sales demand and maximizing liquid recovery of Karachaganak field, Kazakhstan. o Conducted history match to assess the uncertainty in rock properties, relative permeability and PVT model.

o Studied the impact of miscible injection using different agents (N2, CO2 and rich gas) and waterflooding on the liquid recovery.

2008 – 2011



As a member of reservoir monitoring team of QG North Field Bravo, the work achieved is:

Participated in reservoir monitoring team to optimize well production to meet gas production plateau while controlling sour gas content in well/platform production streams: o Contributed to tailoring surveillance acquisition plan and data management. Discussed the yearly list of wells and the schedule of operations with reservoir engineering and well intervention teams based on reservoir data coverage. Contributed in building raw and interpretation data management. o Liaised with well intervention team to discuss job events o Liaised with production teams to retrieve and QA/QC well production history o Gathering and QA/QC pressure-temperature survey and PVT data o Performed pressure transient test design and analysis of modified isochronal and flow after flow tests using SAPHIR.

o Performed log production interpretation using EMERAUDE o Analyzed potential well performance using PROSPER modelling o Contributed to workshops with shareholders to discuss surveillance data and preliminary analysis of PTA and production logging

Screening the effect of potential reservoir problems on performance decline of three QGII wells located in WH-4:

o Analyzed PLT results with no fluid blocking the bottom perforations o Interpreted PTA indicated lower conductivity relatively to the other wells in WH-4

o Analysed possible condensate banking using sector dynamic modelling including Khuff 1 to 4 reservoir properties and PVT model matching the regional pressure saturation.

o Demonstrated condensate drop reduced relative permeability by only 10% in dolomite reservoir interval suggesting performance decline is related to poor reservoir properties.

Monitoring surface injection pressure of QGII to understand reservoir impairment and wellbore damage. Studied the impact of TSS, increase of pH and high oil content in waste water on well injectivity ahead of relaxation period by using PROSPER modelling, surface PTA, Hall analysis. Found:

o TSS and pH had no an immediate impact on injectivity as estimated skin values remained negative

o Injectivity decline due to formation impairment was probable in the midterm

Studied the effect of reservoir pressure build-up due to waste water injection. Used sector dynamic modelling. Proposed to use both available injectors per intermittence in the short term to accommodate the increase in waste volume and reduce the effect of TSS. Proposed a third injector well for sustainable waste injection in the midterm.

Contribute in QGII production start-up. QGII wells were grouped according to production performance based on available well tests and PVT data. Created maps of H2S and gas turbulence factor reflecting the reservoir sweet spots. Prepared a list of ranked wells to ensure smooth production start-up.

Contributed in training program of four junior Qatari engineers 2001 – 2008

Contributed in reservoir monitoring of Berkaoui, BenKahla, Guellala, Toual and Rhourd El Nouss fields in Algeria: gas recycling, waterflooding and natural depletion. o Contributed in construction of surveillance acquisition plan and data management

Optimized field development plan using compositional simulation modelling (perform history match and PVT modelling) of Toual gas condensate field, Algeria.

Contributed in the assessment of enhanced oil recovery project of Rhourd El Baguel field, Algeria:

o Reinterpreted the existing pressure transient. The conductivity output was used to calibrate the dynamic fractured reservoir model. o Rebuilt PVT model to characterize the reservoir fluid. o Performed the slimtube test using simulation to determine the minimum miscibility pressure.

o Evaluated the effect of diffusion on oil recovery while recycling gas in fractured reservoir. Built a sector dynamic model to mimic the laboratory study of light component stripping by adjusting the diffusion coefficients of oil components. Tested the impact of a variety of recycled gas compositions on oil recovery.
