Worked as a Physician Assistant with Onsite Innovations from Sep 2016 to Nov 2016

Role: As the only medical provider, I extended my services to over 1,100 employees and was Occupational Medicine Director employed at TPI Composites. I was employed as a general contractor practicing all modalities and skills I have acquired.

• Worked as a Physician Assistant in Boone County Hospital from May 2016 to Sep 2016

Role: I was hired to work in both the Boone, Madrid, and Ogden Family Practice clinic systems, as well as primary lead provider to open Boone County's first Urgent Care Clinic. As a floating PA, I signed a contract to work three 12 hour days. However, due to the tremendous need for coverage, I filled in all three clinics, provided vacation coverage during the day for all three clinics, as well as helped facilitate the staffing, served on many committees and collaborated with the county hospital’s ER and executive staff and medical providers to ensure we were ready to open for business the week of July 4.

I was able to use all of my family practice, ER, and urgent care skills and procedures I had been trained to do through my orthopedic and pediatric and geriatric electives in the past. Although very strenuous, I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to serve a community's great need for services in all three towns and throughout Boone County. I worked with HR and PR in advertising on the radio, billboards, and newspaper to ensure a timely opening of the clinic with our executives, including ER physicians and clinic physicians and lead Nurse Manager.

I stayed in the Urgent Care Clinic past closing hours to triage, dictate, and ensure labs. Treating and patient care was tended to properly within government hospital and clinics' policies and procedures. I assisted in making of the manual.

• Worked as a Physician Assistant for from Jan 2016 to Apr 2016

Role: As a Physician Assistant, I was contracted through local Broadlawns Medical Center. I was hired to cover another mid-level provider's medical lane for approximately 3 months.

Triaging all ethnicities, languages, and backgrounds with varying multiple medical problems and conditions, I worked up, examined, diagnosed, treated and referred as needed to ER, multi-modality specialists and the patient’s PCP for proper follow-up, evaluation, and treatment.

Although this facility was extremely vigorous, I extended myself and services to flexible days, evenings and weekends to help provide coverage Polk County in all realms of medicine.

To prepare for this position, I became recertified in ACLS and BLS through Maxim Staffing, a previous employer. I completely enjoyed my flexibility and ability to perform all of my skills and procedures through my vast array of background trainings, mentors, supervising Physician trainings, and conferences. As the term came to an end, I applied to an ad from Boone County Hospital, where I was hired in February 2016 to begin practice immediately May 1, 2016.

• Worked as a Physician Assistant in Prairie City Family Clinic from Dec 2008 to Dec 2015

Role: As I was hired to join a 2 physician practice with a mid-level resigning after maternity leave. I was hired to replace and help build Dr. Greg Ingle's private practice still remaining after he bought it from Altoona around 1990. He still remains in practice and employs enough staff to cover both Prairie City and the city of Colfax.

At times I was the sole provider on his days off a couple days per week and took phone calls one day and evening per week, as well as a couple weekends per month and worked some weekends and holidays to serve the community’s needs and even as a nurse and triaged and ran emergency codes awaiting the ambulance crew.

This very family-oriented practice is comprised mainly of family and wonderfully trained and friendly professionals where patients from Iowa and surrounding states come for PCP and preventative, emergency, urgent car and triaging, prescriptions, referrals, X-rays, and counseling from a LISW there on staff. Also for 7 years I performed DOT physicals with the help of nurses doing drug and urine screening to serve the state of Iowa CDL licensed drivers. My role was also to retain openings to see acute and chronic medical conditions and follow diseases and internal medicine problems at least quarterly as well as chronic pain management.

It was with sadness I left this commitment, but still stay in touch via church and community gatherings and visits to the office staff.

This is truly an employer as a patient I would call " family" and "home."

•Worked as a Physician Assistant at Iowa Orthopedic Center from Aug 2008 to Nov 2008

Role: My primary role was hired to perform ER consults, procedures, splinting, referrals to appropriate specialists either as outpatient or emergency surgery. I performed much more than expected as I hold a great deal of sports, orthopedic and occupational medicine knowledge and skills.

I worked in clinic in collaboration with my supervising Physician at the downtown Mercy Medical Center and in their attached clinic via skywalk at that time.

I also was hired to perform inpatient floor consults on multiple floors, patient full history, physical, assessment diagnosing and treatment after a careful history, examination and ordering and interpreting of appropriate treating on the floor and Emergency Room.

In addition, I fulfilled a role replacing the "Practice PA" whom had been with the multi-specialty group who branches all over the state of Iowa to extend their much needed services. I helped schedule and work in the Operating Room in the main hospital and ambulatory surgery and served a role as First Assistant for months until a pre-existing injury to my cervical spine prohibited me from lifting and using OR tools and skills.

Therefore, I was referred to Dr. Ingles' s practice, who was not advertising but looking for a mid-level provider closest to home and more consistent to performing my duties as a mother and wife with a day off every Wednesday.

I still refer to this and other ortho groups depending on the type of patient's insurance plan.

•Worked as a Physician Assistant for Maxim Staffing in West Des Moines from May 2008 to Aug 2008

I performed physicals for the University’s medical students entering the college as well as had openings acute care and diseases and STD screenings. As far as occupational medicine, I performed DOT physicals and evaluations of any state employee regarding work and non-work related injuries and released them with return-to-work status reports. I would continue to see them in follow-ups and collaborate with supervising physicians for appropriate physical therapy orders and referrals as needed.

I also divided my time within the Travel Health clinic. I performed travel physicals and ordered appropriate immunizations based on CDC recommendations.

•Worked as a Physician Assistant in Dermatology P.C. from Aug 2007 to May 2008

Role: Physician Assistant in conjunction with supervising owners and physicians. With a very large patient volume and demand, I evaluated any type of skin care condition, disease, cancer or growth on all ages and ethnicities from newborn to geriatrics. Here I autonomously improved my biopsy and suturing skills as well as learned time efficient charting and assistance of other allied healthcare professionals. I took referrals from the state of Iowa and evaluated and prescribed according to my knowledge base and referred to specialists as needed.

•Worked as a Physician Assistant in Lucas County Health Center, LCHC and Chariton Family Medical Center from Jun 2005 to Jun 2010

Role: I was hired as the first female provider to join a private family practice clinic, CFMC. Here, I expanded my wealth of knowledge and skills under direct supervision of my state licensed supervising doctor. As my first position out of PA school, I joined the team of professionals providing acute, chronic, and emergency room patient coverage. I was often autonomous in the clinic and on weekends, as well as covered the attached Level 3 Trauma center. Within this positions, I was sent to learn OB-GYN ultrasound, therefore, rendering me able to care for all patients of all types. I also attended a Sports and Orthopedic Medical Conference which provided me knowledge and skills to perform soft tissue, tendon and join injections and aspirations as needed. After out second child was born, we bought land to build a home and moved back to the Des Moines area to raise our children where our family resides still.

•Worked as a Radiologic Technologist, R.T. (R) in Mercy Hospital Clinics and Medical Center from May 1996 to May 2000
