The Music School is seeking a Suzuki Violin Teaching Assistant. Under the direction of the lead teacher, the Suzuki Violin Teaching Assistant provides support during monthly group classes and community performances. The Suzuki Violin Teaching Assistant will play a musical leadership role in the classroom and perform the assigned musical repertoire to help lead and cue the students. Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the support of monthly Suzuki Violin classes as well as the performance and production support for community performances.
Play, cue and lead Suzuki repertoire and ensemble music, as assigned.
Able to demonstrate sight reading proficiency and the ability to learn new music quickly.
Position Details:
Work Year: 10.5 Months
School Year: 2025-2026
Work Hours: Approximately once a month (August through May, specific dates to be provided); Wednesday 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM, Saturday 9:15 AM -12:00 PM & 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM; Community performances TBA
Hourly Rate*: $25.00/Hour
Minimum Qualifications:
Current enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated advanced level violin performance skills and sight reading proficiency.
Musical leadership and collaboration skills.
Experience in Suzuki Group Class setting, preferred.
An enthusiasm for music and an ability to inspire students’ life-long love and learning of music.
