Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our team in Iron Mountain, MI. In this hybrid role, you'll be responsible for managing payroll operations for union and non-union employees, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate employee records. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to work both in-office and remotely.
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• File federal and state payroll taxes in compliance with regulations.
• Upload contributions for retirement plans and other benefit programs.
• Monitor and implement wage changes as outlined in union contracts.
• Manage trust accounts and maintain accurate timekeeping records.
• Maintain comprehensive employee files in company systems, ensuring confidentiality.
• Track vacation and sick leave accruals for all employees.
• Handle daily posting of cash receipts and weekly accounts payable checks.
• Process accounts payable vouchers as required.
• Be available to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.• Associates Degree in Accounting is preferred.
• At least three years of office experience in accounting, including one year of payroll experience.
• Proficiency in payroll processing and familiarity with accrual accounting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using ERP solutions and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
