Senior Linux Administrator

Full-time

Note: This role is an ONSITE (Full-time) position.

Position Overview:

We're on the lookout for a proficient and seasoned Linux Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll take charge of maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the smooth operation of Linux-based systems. Collaborating closely with our IT team and stakeholders, you'll play a pivotal role in optimizing system performance, bolstering security measures, and maximizing availability. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Linux administration, adept troubleshooting skills, and a knack for effective communication and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

Installation, configuration, and upkeep of Linux operating systems and associated software.

Vigilant monitoring of system performance, preemptively identifying and addressing issues to uphold high availability and efficiency.

Regular implementation of system updates, patches, and upgrades to uphold security protocols and system stability.

Oversight of user accounts, permissions, and access levels to safeguard data integrity and security.

Establishment and maintenance of comprehensive backup and recovery protocols to minimize downtime and fortify data protection.

Active monitoring and analysis of system logs and events to detect and mitigate potential security threats.

Swift resolution of hardware and software malfunctions, including server and network connectivity issues.

Collaborative efforts with the IT team to conceptualize and implement system improvements and optimizations.

Development and upkeep of system documentation, including configuration guides, protocols, and policies.

Keeping abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices pertinent to Linux system administration.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Demonstrated experience in a Linux Systems Administrator role or similar capacity.

Proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), covering installation, configuration, and administration.

Expertise in shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) for task automation and system management.

Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V KVM) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Knowledge of networking protocols, services, and security (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and BIG IP devices).

Experience with system monitoring and management tools (e.g., Solarwinds, Ansible, OPCON).

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot system performance and connectivity issues effectively.

Deep understanding of system security principles and best practices.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating seamless collaboration across teams.

Professional certifications in Linux administration (e.g., LPIC, RHCE) or related fields.

5+ years of proven Linux Administration experience.

Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Proficiency in scripting languages for automation and configuration management (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

Familiarity with database administration (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL).

Solid grasp of web servers and associated technologies (e.g., Apache, Nginx).

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Sound understanding of NIM, AIX, and IDM.
