Remote Patient Registration Representative - Insurance Verification

Diagnostic Lab experience preferred!

Pay Range - $22 to $25 per hour

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 1 year experience using payer portals

Minimum 1 year medical billing experience with emphasis on charge entry

Lab experience preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for confirming the insurance eligibility, with emphasis on laboratory test restrictions within the policy for the

lab to know where the claims will be billed.

Making sure all the necessary patient information is received timely and able to get claims billed within 48 hours of receipt.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Verify insurance information by checking portal, with emphasis on where the claims should be mailed to.

Must complete verification on every specimen received within 24 hours.

Review all pertinent information: patient information, copy of both sides of the insurance card, signed requisitions

and managed care authorization from ordering physician to upload into the LIS

Contacts ordering physician’s offices for missing information

May contact the patient when additional information is required of them.

Works edits in LIS to release “clean” claims to submit to clearinghouse

Ability to track trends and communicate findings to supervisor.

Performs other job-related duties as requested to ensure the goals and objectives of the department are met.

Represent the Laboratory with a positive, professional demeanor and appearance in all activities and communications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams.)

Knowledge of Government and third party payers along with the associated PayerIDs

Knowledge of payer portals

Ability to think independently and use good judgment for situations which require initiative and innovation

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to research and analyze information

Solid work ethic, as well as, attention to detail and accuracy

Organizational skilled required to prioritize

10 key by touch and typing minimum of 40 wpm
