Myticas Consulting is currently looking for Support Desk Specialist for a full-time contracting opportunity within the Ottawa region.

Minimum of an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance would be ideal.

The required responsibilities, skills and experiences for this role would include:

- Around 3-5 years experience with hardware/software configuration and installation procedures.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2003/2008 and XP environments.

- Candidates must have technical knowledge of firewalls, VPNs and general communications network expertise.

- Be able to work under pressure from customer to resolve problems.

- Be able to write clear and precise updates to trouble tickets describing how problem are defined and resolved.

- Excellent verbal communications skills (English/French).

- Flexible work hours: Candidate must agree to work early or late shifts, based on the business need.

- Pager support: Candidate must agree to periodically carry a pager for after-hours support, as part of a larger rotating pool of pager resources.

- Candidate must have high-speed internet access maintained at the candidate’s own cost, to adequately support secured, remote access for after-hours pager activity as needed.

Optional Skill Set:

- Technical knowledge of Internet Protocols, firewalls, VPNs and general communications network expertise would be considered an asset.

- Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools (eg. Clearcase) would be considered an asset.

- Knowledge of MS Windows-based servers operating in a clustered environment would be considered an asset.

- Experience in Public Safety environments would be considered an asset.

- Experience with Oracle databases would be considered an asset.
