REED-ELSEVIER / GOLD STANDARD Tampa, Florida ● 2009 – 2010 Clinical decision support (CDS) applications and clinical pharmacology database vendor. Director of Integrated Products Management Led the organization efforts to consolidate several internal disparate systems and the development of a

MIAMI CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL Miami, Florida ● 2008 – 2009 A non-profit 300 beds hospital. Chief Medical Information Officer Executive management accountability for strategic planning and tactical execution of the clinical informatics activities of the hospital. Serve as the liaison between the clinicians and the IT dept. and responsible for the clinicians’ engagement. Lead multiple cross-functional teams of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, administrators, analysts, software architects and engineers in the vendor selection process, evaluation of services, design, configuration and go-live planning activities related to IT clinical systems.

• Championed the development of the hospital’s clinical informatics 3 years’ strategic plan. • Chaired the Clinical Informatics Steering Group and lead the Physicians’ IT Advisory Board. Both teams have

helped identify and prioritize the IT related tactical activities of the organization, while achieving the

clinicians’ buy-in. • Facilitated the EMR vendor selection process using workflow scenarios and evaluation forms developed by the

clinicians. Simplified and reduced the number of existing redundant paper forms used in the admission, order, handoff and discharge processes while standardizing the related discrete data elements in preparation for the EMR implementation.

TRINITY HEALTH Novi, Michigan ● 2006 - 2008 A healthcare organization with 45 hospitals, 53,000 employees and $6.8 B revenues. • Triggered and led the vendor selection, contract evaluation, design specs and successful implementation of Capsule – a biomedical device integration software in 3 hospitals - reducing to zero the time a clinician needs to spend documenting vital signs in the O.R., PACU, E.R. and ICU. Solution was adopted as a standard by the organization.

• Led the team chartered with the automation of the reporting process and the consolidation of the performance measurements, quality indicators and benchmarks required by CMS, JCAHO and other regulatory agencies into a single web-based data registry.

SIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS Malvern, Pennsylvania ● 2003 – 2006 A global medical engineering company with $13B sales and a $300M informatics R&D budget. Clinical Domain Systems Analyst Assigned as sole physician and clinical domain expert in a 120 R&D team, responsible for clinical requirements engineering, analysis, design, coding and testing of Siemens medical informatics products development.

• Championed and orchestrated the agile / lean engineering (collection, analysis, prioritization, design, coding and testing) of the clinical aspects for the operating rooms scheduling and management systems, anesthesia, cardiology and critical care.

• Participated and clinically led initiatives in the development of a workflow based IT solution for pharmacy management, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), EMR, transcription and medication administration & reconciliation software.

• Conceived and directed the technical design of an innovative user interface prototype for acute care, interactive flow sheet documentation with Siemens Corporate Research division Princeton, NJ (patent pending).

• Coordinated Siemens offshore teams from Bangalore (India) in the development of a report package for the statistical analysis of the clinical, financial and administrative aspects of operating rooms management.

SHEBA and TEL-AVIV MEDICAL CENTERS Israel ● 1990 – 2003 The largest medical centers in Israel. Senior Attending Anesthesiologist - Anesthesiology & I.C.U. department Manager of the Operating Rooms Anesthesia Information Management Systems Practiced anesthesia and critical care medicine in the busiest hospitals in Israel. Served as system administrator and on site manager responsible for a $1.1M project - Datex-Ohmeda – DEIO Anesthesia Information Management System (now GE/Centricity).

• Configured and maintained the anesthesia application and database for 25 operating rooms: on site configuration software, network installation and setup, testing and debugging, physicians training, cultural change management and auxiliary tools implementation. Developed a report package using SQL, later to be adopted as a template by the vendor.

• Achieved and maintained for 7 years a systems zero down time - including the year 2000 transition. • Experienced with statistical methods and with state of the art data mining and analysis tools (SPSS). Led the

consolidation process of two large databases - the anesthesiology and the hospital information systems into a data warehouse with the purpose of quantifying the incidence and significance of intra-operative events on patients’ outcomes.
