Production Manager

Recruited as a “Turnaround Agent” to repair a mismanaged production unit, analyze and solve production problems, return to profitable plant, this plant needed to be retrained from the ground up. Basic manufacturing principles needed to be put in place. Worked with the crews in place and taught them without dismissing anyone and keeping a great deal of experience in the plant.

• Efficiency, downtime, scrap and good pounds per hour all increased and the P&L turned profitable. The last year has shown 11 of 12 months very profitable.

Diversi-Plast Manufacturing Division

Machinery and Process Improvement Manager 2006 – 2007

Determined plant problems and provided solutions. Traveled weekly to a newly acquired sister division in Green Bay, WI, to evaluate machine processes and facilitate improvement by representing the operators’ knowledge and presenting data to the management team.

• Reduced scrap material by 20% in less than 2 months.

Extrusion Manager / Startup Manager Line X 2003 – 2006

Joined a team to design and build the next generation machine process to serve the plant for the next 20 years.

• Advised consulting engineers and assisted in the design of $10 million replacement process line for plant. Reorganized historical data and reported new needs based on history, traveled to all eight vendors’ sites for initial design specifications and vender inspections, the machine was dedicated in July, 2006, at a rate higher than promised.

Extrusion Manager 2000 – 2003

Created a new manager position to reduce scrap and improve quality in plant extrusion group. Analyzed the data collection techniques and trained the operators to use upgraded electronic devices that recorded into Excel worksheets. Standardized all data collection into one database for the operators to use Modernized the SPC process with Lean manufacturing principals Defined the reasons for machine or process downtime.

• Project resulted in 50% reduction in downtime with additional solutions and cost reductions implemented.

Relocated to open new plant, established main reporting systems, data collection, quality, process SOP’s and work rules. Created a team approach that included vender trained (Ford) trouble shooting teams for problem analysis and SPC.

• Plant was up and operating at 90% capacity in five different process types within 1 year.

Relocated to modernize plants, a $5 million dollar process improvement was created to offer value added capability. Established new process procedures, SOP’s and improved processes. Created a team approach that included brainstorming, fishbone and troubleshooting teams for problem analysis.

• Plant was up and operating at 95% capacity in the new and improved process types after 1 year.

Joined the international engineering team as a process technician to expand process-troubleshooting capability of company, on assignment to start or troubleshoot operations in licensee’s plants in Japan, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, Columbia and Australia.
