CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Participated in the design and implementation of a world-class CNC machine tool controller (Vertical machining Center) Results: one of the most accurate and easy to use controls for beginning and advanced machinists.

Designed and implemented data gathering systems, some requiring human interfaces and some were automatic. Results: Reduced the size of the department to one-half and saved over $250,000 in upgrades.

Forged design and development specifications with vendors and management. Results: data gathering and machining systems that matched expectations and company procedures.

Helped with ISO9000 qualification. Results: procedural specifications in two languages that were measurable, accurate, and repeatable.

Developed fast prototypes so developers can proceed with their development. Results Parser, Interpreter, low-level communications, real-time O/S, File management, diagnostics, machine setup, Unit testing thus helping and educating the team along the way. Electrical technical support added. Interface with many departments.

Developed items that made systems more sellable. Results 2d/3d graphic programming, graphical data gathering, diagnostic routines, MRB, scrap, and vendor return analysis packages..

Mentored other software engineers in their respective languages and tasks. Results: a faster team and fewer software reworks.

Assist management to interpret scrap reports, warranty returns, and specifications. Results: easier for VP’s, managers, etc., to make informed decisions.

Troubleshoot entire systems and sub systems (databases, HMI, libraries) Results: no need to have so many experts looking for root-cause problems and variation.

Volunteered extra engineering time Results: automated Fast Fourier Transforms FFT (automatic tuning), free management from doing 100% of the specifications, and provided a more pleasant user interfaces, gathered “lost” data. Allowed one company to run without hardware engineers for a few months during relocation.

Enjoy teaching the basic math, science, and computer programming classes: Results: easier to mentor and much easier to explain complicated concepts in easy to understand terms. Keeps the basics sharp and clear in my mind.

Volunteered to design a system that was promised to customers that grossly exceeded the current system’s (and technology’s) ability to deliver: Results: A system that exceeded the promises at the cost of two weeks of 20 hour days).
